I wouldn't be that keen to trade Sanders unless he says he wants to go. He appears to be happy at the club and he lives with Treloar so I don't think he wants to shuffle around sides while he makes a decision on Tas.
He's got some parts of his game to work on but I'd be in no hurry to trade him.

Not for a 30 year old fullback. We got a late first for Lake.

if it was only a late first.
Pick 21 and 41 for Lake and Pick 27.
        That was our own fault.
        Worth way more without hindsight.
With hindsight how much was trade for a future norm smith and starting FB in 3 premierships?
WIlkie will be our starting FB in the next 3 years

its interesting - as you said clearly there is something in this Wilkie talk then.

On Sanders it’s a tough call, I don’t want to lose him but I think he may end up a very good player but probably not a great one. I like the kid and I’d try to get Wilkie without him, but if that was the only way then I’d probably do it, I wouldn’t add more to the trade though.

It really depends what the deal with Butters is too, if we’re confident on him then I’d definitely move him on. Sanders for Wilkie & Butters (and picks from us) would be brilliant business
I see a little bit of Lachie Neil in Sanders, not flashy but consistently good. awesome one touch ground balls and uses it smartly. He seems to lack confidence and plays safe to often but I thinks both of these improve with age.

I wouldn't be in a rush to ship him given Libba and Ads age. Especially not for a 30 year old in Wilkie. Give me Butts and Sanders over Wilkie.

I wonder if we've ever had a young kid that people were so keen to trade before. I don't get it, Sanders played his second year and made huge leaps early in the year before dropping off at the end.

He'll be fine. I think it's silly to think about trading him.

Sanders has so much improvement to come I don't get the notion we would shop him around.

I don't think there's a notion. Just that it's been rumoured the saints have enquired about him. Potentially as part of a Wilkie deal. So it's raised the idea of whether we'd be prepared to do it.

I'm interested in what people see as the right price for Wilkie - a guy we have actively chased, in contract, in the top 5 players at his side.

They'll absolutely ask for two firsts, or Sanders and a first, as a starting point. But where do we think it finishes? We can't afford not to get the deal done, if Wilkie does ask for a trade.

Yeah that's what I was trying to gauge. Picks are often easier to raise as there's no known quantity attached to it.

But Sanders really is an interesting one. A top pick. A young midfielder with potential but has struggled a little to get going and has the risk of going to Tassie.

Would Sanders on his own even be fair value for the saints? As a club, we must know what we're prepared to do to get Wilkie over after offering him the big bucks even if it means overpaying. He's under contract so we can't pull a Geelong here.
