    Opening Round

    Discussion for opening round.

Hawks unfortunately have started well against the swans and look very slick in general play. Sigh…

Hard to say but yes Day and Newcombe getting right on top through the middle for the Hawks. Sicily playing well. Meek in the ruck in that first quarter was very good.

The new scoreboard through the fox footy coverage is huge

      Watson looking pretty average.

He'll have a lot more attention this year so it'll be interesting to see how he handles it. He isn't quick and he isn't strong, not great traits to have as a small forward, but he is clever.

Day and Newcombe look formidable. Meek too.

Fox footy coverage so far is impressive compared to channel 7

He's one of those players who doesn't need a lot of it, but can turn it on at times and become dangerous when Hawks get a run on, then get in the opposition faces after being missing for 80 minutes, a very punch able head.

The Lizard and Warner are electric. Campbell would have been a good get a few clubs were interested. Hopefully Dolan can impact a game like that.

Amarty and Chol are very poor forwards

Swans a close watch for me. Could really see them falling, and history suggests that often happens when you get belted in a GF.

Gulden is a big out and if one of their star trio aren't playing they're really restricted.

Hawks would be happy with that, you'd be excited if you were a fan.

I thought Wicks played him perfectly. It's only one game but I expect the pressure to come to Watson, especially given how provocative he is.

High footy IQ so he does get to the right spots but you can see the blueprint to blanket him. He will need to forego playing for free kicks and falling over - in some ways it reminds me of how the opposition worked out how to play Stringer.

He'll still be dangerous but I'd just be weary of pretending he's a superstar, or destined for it.

Sedat was it just me or was the score on the screen way too big?

I think Croft explained his limitations to him very clearly last week. Obviously the wee lad has taken it onboard.

Yep it was bigger than usual. If they make it slightly smaller it will be very good.

Fox Footy will have the better coverage than Channel 7 and they have all the games live ad free.
