High footy IQ so he does get to the right spots but you can see the blueprint to blanket him. He will need to forego playing for free kicks and falling over - in some ways it reminds me of how the opposition worked out how to play Stringer.

He'll still be dangerous but I'd just be weary of pretending he's a superstar, or destined for it.
I didn't watch the game but thought it was pretty funny that in the official AFL highlights package the only time he was shown was twice getting caught holding the ball.

Are the Hawks the real deal? I'm not convinced that the Swans can back up last seasons results.

If they can't you'll have to question why the grand final review only went for seven hours and not two or three full days.

Hawks backline will keep them in most games, lock them in the top 4. I hope Cleary watches Scrimshaw that kick inside was glorious, just generally the way he plays I think he could take a lot from him.

The Lizard and Warner holy moly they are exciting, their defence wont allow them to win a premiership though its there achilles heel atm.

Yeh Hawks look legit to me. Good win away with all their smalls doing nothing. Not sure how good Sydney are. Forward line is an issue for them and look a little thin on ball to me.

Hawks midfield will make a lot of midfields look a little thin.

I didn't watch any of it, but I wouldn't be carried away by Hawthorn just yet.

Wasn't this the midfield that our depleted team smashed last week in a practice match?

Did they bring anyone in that improved them?

Perhaps Sydney could just be ordinary this year.

If Day plays a full season then they get the extra couple of wins to be top 4, imo.

Joe we both know pre season forms means nothing.
Not sure who the bought in but I do recall them smashing us at the contest in last year finals series.

It only means something if we play badly.

While I accept the premise that pre-season has limited value, we still clearly outpointed them without plenty of our best.

I understand that the addition of Barrass, Battle and Day to their elimination finals side are significant ins. They all played in the practice match.

I still feel that we should be very encouraged with how we handled them in Launceston.

Swans will start slow as grand finalists usually do. They’ll be ok but not expecting a top 2 side, but a top 8 side. Hawks looked strong. Lots of players who can impact the scoreboard. The Collingwood 2023 model. It’s a good one to have.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

Anyone else stoked there's no other footy on this weekend outside of the contrived round zero northern state wankfest that didn't happen? I'd hate to be watching my team right now, or anything at all, mind you.
                    TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

To be fair to the morons in charge, there would have been a game on right now if not for the cyclon.

Actually, that game would have been finished by now.................I mean of course you'd set that game to start at 1715 to accommodate the shit humid and slippery conditions in QLD on a Victorian Labour Day Saturday where the vast majority of the audience is located and plenty of people are still doing things like going to the beach given the weather.......

Already a better start for them than last year too.
