Leading up to the draft I wanted Watson. His bottom age year was mind blowing.
Then as it approached I kind of went of him a bit, can't recall why think his champs weren't amazing.
So was hoping someone quick would be on the menu.
Sanders was a safe bet, he may not have the peak of some of the others but he looks like a 100-200 game player all things going well.
He doesn't excite me like a McKercher or a Windsor type that's for sure.
I even really rate Tholstrup at pick 13, he looks like he's got it.
The Demons are the best in the business at drafting. Jason Taylor will get a statue.

Oliver obviously doesn't care any more Geelong have got into his ear , saying don't worry have your fun come to us and everything will be just dany but as has been stated once the gene is out of the bottle there's no getting her back in so Oliver is on that slippery slop and willl struggle unless someone strong comes into his life wether that being a partner or club offical who can look him in the eye and say enough is enough young man you either do it this way or your out and maybe that exactly what he wants to happen but either ways not in a good place with the culture that is present at Melbourne right now young and impressionable men may struggle .

Do you think clubs will be more discerning with these insanely long deals ?
I don't get why they lock them in for so long. Back your culture, and if they want to move then so be it.

The PA wouldn't accept it but there should be a 5 year limit on player deals and perhaps a club can't have more than certain number on those deals.
Maybe clubs could have an exemption for 2 players on their list with 7 year deals.

AGREE HERE BUT YOU HAVE TO RELISE THAT WHEN HE SIGNED HE WAS ARGUABLY THE PREMIER mid going around and his agent would have been driving the length and value of the contract up , what does a club do, you have nurtured and developed the best thing going around , and when they ask 4 say 7 years do say nope cya find another club , man that would be a terribly hard call , example BONTS agent is like we want a 7 yeah deal bONTS say 23 at the time about what oliver was could we say NO ? danm that would be a terrible situation , who knew Oliver would have turned the way he has ? not me when he signed that contract i was saying to myself omg if only we had him, so yeah massive call and that's why most times the player and his agent rule you want him to stay then pay up .

Naughty100 when replying to posters can I suggest quoting the post? it is fairly quite posting wise at the moment so it’s easy to see who you are talking to but during the season it can be hectic.

A lot will depend on Oliver and Petracca.

Both coming off significant disruptions; if they can find their best again and Gawn stays fit they'll be in the mix

I think their window is closed...for now. They have drafted very well so it shouldn't be a massive fall. Ageing stars though can close a window rapidly.

Gawn's fitness will be critical he really is their talisman. Be interesting to see how his body holds up considering an interrupted pre season with the throat injury.

Tall forwards are really their only weak spot from a personnel POV, and question marks over an elite midfield.

Will once again rely on Fritsch to kick most of their goals, plus some improvement from van Rooyen, and cross their fingers that all of Gawn, Petracca and Oliver play full high-quality seasons. It's a lot to go right.

They're in the 6-12 bunch for me.

Tall forward and a proper 2nd ruckman would give them a better chance.
