I'd say more focused on scoring as they've struggled forward of centre. They also seem to not care so much about losing clearance with the big defenders so maybe they'll tighten that up.

They have been a bit innovative with things like trying Grundy and Gawn as a ruck tandem and while that one didn't work, the next one might.

I reckon Melbourne are as good a chance as anyone (ex Brisbane) next season if Petracca and Oliver are good to go.

They also draft very well. No doubt their two first rounders will be big contributors early. Caleb Windsor is also probably the second best performed of last years draft and looks to have massive growth.

I don't claim to be a draft expert but Harvey Langford is my pick of the crop. I won't be surprised to see him get early games and make an impact.

I still think they lack goalkickers, but petracca possibly plays more forward time when he first comes back. And I will be shocked if Oliver plays a good game... He's more likely to play VFL imo.

I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes the best player in his draft year, he's not an 'athlete' but just has that 'follow me' mentality that the best players have.

Windsor is a gun, they did so well. He would be behind Reid for me in a redraft.

They could bounce back quickly. I hope it isn't the case

I thought and posted on this very site that at the start of the 2023 season I thought Oliver was the best player in the AFL despite never having learned how to kick. He was an absolute animal on the inside and was pretty much a centre square midfield by himself.

I reckon he’s done. Gets kind of forgotten that he played for most of last year and was horrible. He just so plainly doesn’t give a shit anymore and you can’t get that lightning back in the bottle.

If he can get his focus right he should improve a fair bit. It's a big ask though and he might just as easily get worse.

And this is the reason you are hard on Sanders

My days they draft well - I'm super annoyed they have gotten four first round draft picks in this draft just gone and last years draft.

Interestingly I heard someone say we can tell how well Melbourne are going off-field by seeing how long it takes for Steven May to re-sign.

I seem to recall GG was big on Caleb Windsor. Pure guess but there might be ongoing comparison between the two.

Which is fair enough given they were picked next to each other.

I think Windsor would have filled a current best 22 hole for us, but Sanders is important to cover Libba and Treloar retirements in the next few years. It will definitely be one to judge after 4 or 5 seasons.

                              I didn't realise I was!?

Sanders is great, he's young needs to develop. I'm certainly ok with the pick.

Maybe my mistake, but I thought you were concerned with his point of difference for a high pick?
