This expands on Michael Voss' idea to play a game in 'every state', except he only listed some states.
Surely you call it national week or something and do literally every state...Hawks play in Tassie, giants in Canberra, GC in Darwin, then 1 or 2 in WA, Lions at Gabba, Swans in Sydney, 1 or 2 in Adelaide, 1 or 2 at the MCG.
We say we're a national game, and certainly are more national than NRL...so make that your point of difference. Season starts with premiers playing a home game, and then a game in each other state over the weekend. Simple!

We are now starting the season too early for my liking with opening round, an extra game for gather round, byes mid year, final bye. Early March start is ridiclous.
Just do an old fashion proper draw, that is fair to all teams and rolling over every few years so that every one plays each other twice over the years. The game is big and doesn't need any razzle dazzle, people will come.

Starting the season on Victoria's Labour Day Weekend is dumb. I don't mind the game in every state approach, but not this early in the season where it's either humid as shit up north or still likely to be hot as shit everywhere else.
The amazing thing is the geniuses at AFL HQ will be high fiving at their dumb luck should the final eight not be determined until Essendon and Gold Coast play after round 24. It will probably encourage them to triple down on this malarky for next year.....because you know, AFEL.
TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.
The Western Bulldogs are set to feature in a host of primetime footy matches, with two Thursday nights and three Friday nights among the latest drop.
Family-friendly timeslots against Adelaide and Melbourne on Sundays will allow for fans of all ages to cheer on the red, white and blue.
The Bulldogs will have a six-day break between Rounds 16 and 17, meeting Sydney at the SCG on Friday 27 June, before returning to face North Melbourne in an away game at Marvel Stadium on Thursday 3 July.
As announced earlier today, the Round 18 Dogs-Crows clash has been moved from Mars Stadium to Marvel Stadium.
The Bulldogs will then play five of their final six home-and-away games in Melbourne.
I am not keen on Thursday night matches, but we have been given some Prime time which we can't complain about
Same here, Thursday night games are okay for me but horrendous for families with younger children. The upside is the club sponsors dine out on the increased coverage.

I don't mind if they are interstate (or Geelong), but 4 of our 5 this season are at Marvel which is personally difficult to attend on a Thursday with zero chance I can take kids on a school night (of course none of them fall in school holidays).
