In the 20 years since John Elliott referred our tragic history, we have won more flags than Carlton and 3 less wooden spoons (Carlton has 4 spoons in 15 years, as many as we have in our entire histry). Tragic? Pig's arse.

I believe JJ is the first Norm Smith Medalist that:
a) Started on the rookie list; and
b) Was born overseas

Was there a Hawthorn Ruckman that won in the early nineties? He was born in South Africa too. I might be wrong,

I reckon the ruckman you're looking for two dogs is Stephen Lawrence

Lawrence was born in South Africa but he never won a Norm Smith.

Although we should set our target at 51000 because it's always the last thousand w seem to lag with. If we didn't get to 51000 then we could say "at least we got to 50000"
