Lots of players have rested on their laurels, which is their choice... but for the MC to continue to back them in is getting a bit hard to cop.Comment

Once Sydney kicked the first of the last I wanted them to go on with it. It's been quite some time since we have needed a slap. The last thing I wanted was to get some cheap ones late and paper over the cracks again with a couple of goal loss.
Sydney worked so much harder and I'm hoping this will shock us into action. It will be very interesting how we respond now and I'm confident we will respond like good teams do.Comment

This year we are a middle of the road team. We are not a top team. 4 losses interstate. Other loss an away game against Geelong. We are battling with a whole host of teams just to make the finals. That is the reality of our season.Comment

Hopefully this is the jolt we need to sting us into action and I am confident the response will be swift and decisive. It must be so because, collectively, that was a lamentable performance. The blame must be shouldered by ALL involved. The MC got it so wrong, the mind set running out on to the ground was straight out of la la land. For a game to go 3 minutes before we got a kick says something. The positive is: it's happened at the half way mark. We have a lot of work to do, but we have the time to get it done. And I'm sure those at the helm will come up with the goods. Go Dogs!http://journals.worldnomads.com/merantau

For some reason, we have lost all 4 interstate games and of course going down the road to Geelong which we treated like an interstate trip staying overnight.
We still have games in Adelaide, Cairns, Gabba and of course Ballarat.FFC: Established 1883

Re: Game Day Round 12, 2017 - Sydney Swans V Western Bulldogs
What is going on with our midfield? I know they are terribly out of form, but has there been even half of footy this season where we have been the better side at centre clearances? Every week we are absolutely slaughtered in the middle, which puts our defence on the back foot immediately.
We've blamed the lack of a ruckman a lot of the time, but having tried each of our 4 best rucks through there this season, and facing such mediocre ruckmen as Sam Naismith and Billy Longer, is it time to concede that there is more at fault there?
Besides, the last few years we have been excellent at winning centre clearances even against very good rucks, why can't we work it out of there anymore?
Bont has typically been playing off a wing or deep forward, so that's one reason potentially. And Libba has been poor, but aside from that I see no reason why we should be getting killed out of the middle every week.
Could this be a result of the coaching rotations, are we not hungry enough, or are we just not that good?I should leave it alone but you're not rightComment

Apologies in advance for this rant. Our worst performance since Macca. Could not even bring myself to give votes (partly due to switching over to soccer). No-one likes losing however the manner in which we lost was really dreadful.
Regarding our woeful midfield performance this year..Has the no third man up rule made a bigger difference than we are acknowledging? Why does MC continue to adopt the flexible position mantra when it is clearly onto our clearance detriment? Why change line coaches when the assignment last year worked so well? Are players hungry enough? Why the hell doesn't Honey get a gig in the guts so we have more midfield grunt? MC surely can see we at least one inside midfielder short? If we are playing the long game by keeping English in, why are MC persisting with Suckling and MBoyd instead of Webb who may not get as many touches but what he does with them are pretty good (yo yo-ing poor kid is surely denting his confidence, he has played well as midfielder in vfl so give him an extended run in seniors there too). Why has our kicking to I50 and to goal not improved? Do we have a kicking coach? Is it a combo of some of all of these?
Something in Denmark ain't right and I hope we can fix it soon. Am I the only one who switched the telly to Socceroos so as to at least see some real heartfelt effort?Josie :)
Our day will come
And we'll have everything.
We'll share the joy

Re: Game Day Round 12, 2017 - Sydney Swans V Western Bulldogs
Other than the finals series last year we were the 7th best side. We got our injured back, and our game plan clicked. We got over weagles and the belief was starting to drill into the whiten oval. We all know how it went from there.
Onto 2017...everyone is talking up the dogs as another premiership contender...will only get better, stronger....great coach...great team, and only better with Wallis, murph and Cloke to come in. Fans were getting excited. Players were getting excited. The start of a dynasty.
So where are we now? Looking like a dysfunctional lot. Not playing for each other, no hunger, no cohesive effort. Shocking kicking for goal, beaten in the coaches box on game day, poor MC decisions.....yes more injuries to key players.
My 2 cents....we aren't as good as what we thought. We are a 7th placed team, stagnating from this time last year. We have players severely out of form, and others who have taken a back step.
We need to stop believing our own hype and get back to basics. and quick, coz for me this year is nearly dead to be any chance of going far in September.I will never see #16 the same!!Comment
