The hill you chose to die on

So, as the saying goes, a player, their position, a strategy, coach or whatever to do with the club. You climbed that hill and it didn’t work out.

My hill: Jarrad Grant. I’m still there with a feint pulse if coaches used him better and used him differently. Don’t regret it a second.

    What is/was your hill?

We need to bring back the Robodog.

That guernsey is the main reason I became a Bulldog, and the hoops just aren't anywhere near as cool.

I did manage to get one after we used it for retro round a couple of years ago, and wear it to just about every game now, but it'll be nice to see it on the players again one day...

Naughton would be our best KPD and we'd be a better side with him down back.

      The curse is dead.

Mate - you've done an awesome job of keeping that bottled up inside! :-)
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

I’ve died on a few hills, and still have a flag firmly in the ground of one that has a particularly long thread on it.

          - Tim Walsh would have been a star anywhere else.
          - Ryan Gardner’s non selection in 2021 GF cost us a flag.

I'd love for you to elaborate on both of these points!

Was it Schache ahead of Gardner?

What did we do wrong by Tim Walsh - I thought he had lots of injuries?

The NGA rules would not have been changed if JUH was in a big club's academy. The tantrums about it were because we're meant to be a minnow club with no right to get the best player to come through the NGA system. JUH became a consensus number 1 specifically because he was club linked and thus nobody shut up about how unfair it was all year, meanwhile he wasn't playing any footy, and two other key forwards were proving what they could do all year.

Walsh was an impressive junior footballer but he just couldn't hold enough marks at the senior level. With all his injuries he would have struggled everywhere.

This is why it’s his hill!

I have multiple hills.....from the past:

                    1. Chris Grant would be widely acknowledged as the best CHB of all time if he played his whole career there (I still think he's the best, but it's a hard sell given EJ etc.).
                    2. Adam Cooney would be a multiple Brownlow Medalist if not for cracking his knee in the 2008 finals.
                    3. Vez just needs to be honest with himself, knuckle down and he could still make it.

                    Today:

                    1. Jacko should have been retained, put in the gym, and replaced a retired Tom Liberatore as our main extractor (I think that's the term we're all using now for inside mids, yeah?).
                    TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

Less relevant now given the composition of the list but Tim English is a forward more than a ruck.

Of more relevance now given the composition of the list but Bont is required more in defence when not in the middle.

I will give you one a day for the next year. For now:

Tom Williams and Andrejs Everitt marking everything and streaming out of the backline would make us unbeatable.

Everitt was a better recruit than Jack Riewolt a few picks later.

I am all in with Jeemak on Cooney's knee as well. Pre knee would have to be in the race with EJ Bont and Dougie for the most naturally talented player we have had.

I’m far too pragmatic to have ever died on a hill BT. But Treloar to spend time back might be my first. No one validate this by checking my posting history - never said anything like McMahon could win a Brownlow I’m sure.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

That'd be a steep bloody hill! Luckily outside of Aza there's nobody who goes back and reviews posting history around here.........
