I think Marra needs a fresh start somewhere else.
He will look at Bailey Smith and believe if a club can give him a bit more flexibility with the demands on training etc that he might thrive in that new environment.

That's all well and good but my god are we going to be absolutely screwed by this whole ordeal. We're about to give away our number 1 draft pick for a late 3rd rounder or some rubbish and there's nothing we can do about it. It's absolutely gutting. Full support for Mara but I can't help but feel bitter about how everything has played out

How ****ing flexible have we been?

Getting paid $800k to pick and choose when he turns up… sign me up for that.

The AFL has said it won't immediately green light a return to footy next year via a trade being facilitated, unless certain hurdles/milestones in recovery have been met prior. Let's see if they hold firm on that in lieu of their biggest baby being JUH's suitor.

Geelong remains the dark horse for me should he choose to leave. It's the closest place to Framlingham, and very loose with how it governs its player behaviour. I don't get the logic in the narrative that someone so connected to family and community would be better off eight hours transit away from it, rather than three today or two in the future.

He is the one AFL player who is bigger news when he turns up to training, than when he misses.

I will probably quit football, football media and possibly move states if that happens. I could not stand the sycophancy and Geelong “freedom” narrative being bandied about endlessly.

It will literally be the pits if it does happen, but when I think about my dark side cynical view of the entire situation it is the most logical outcome.

This morning I caught wind of an AFL agent survey that was recently conducted, citing Geelong as the best club to deal with for managers, with a few notables being OK and St Kilda the worst. It's behind the Murdoch paywall so I haven't looked into it further.

Wonder why they're soooooo good to deal with? Definitely wouldn't have anything to do with third party deal commissions............

I’m not sure the environment of the club is the problem it’s the environment he has created outside the club, which if has changed all good he would stay but if he doesn’t change that environment no club can fix it.

We have been very good, flexible and understanding but we've also been firm on not allowing him to play football unless he has done the required work.
That all seems very fair to me but I'm betting he doesn't see it that way.
Remember he thought he was fit enough to play in the Indigenous All-Stars team and we knocked him back and my guess is he thinks he should be in the VFL now.

I would imagine that it won't be hard for other clubs to entice him with a few additional flexible incentives.

I'm okay if we choose to keep him at the club for another 12 months if we don't get a fair offer.
