Always Right Match Committee R2 vs Collingwood 2025

Welcome to the Always Right Match Committee Thread. The Match Committee threads has been named after long time WOOF member Always Right who tragically passed away in March 2018.

If you were on the Western Bulldogs match committee, what changes would you make after our Round One match against North Melbourne for our Round Two match against Collingwood at the MCG

For those new to these threads, please give a brief explanation for your changes ... this would add a lot of value to the discussion.

Garcia’s got be considered because this midfield isn’t doing it.

Could be a debut for Buss

            Out: O'Donnell, Cleary
            In: Garcia, Busslinger

O'Donnell and Cleary out with injury, obviously.

Bring in Garcia so that Fridge can go back to half back and cover Cleary's absence, plus I think we could have used Garcia's clearance ability tonight even if his disposals leave much to be desired.

Buss seems like the next man up at full back to cover O'Donnell's absence, would be a great opportunity to debut. If he's not ready though, I think Buku is the next man after him which I wouldn't hate because Collingwood don't have a super tall forward line anyway.

              Out: JOD, Cleary
              In: Busslinger, Baker

I'd want to drop Gags as his disposal is really poor but I'm not sure who else would come in. I love Sonny's endeavour but he needs to show us his kicking has improved first.

I can’t see how you could play Dolan next week… he was a total non factor out there.

Agree. He needs a bit of time in the 2’s to learn the trade.

Khamis for JOD- Assuming JOD out injured, Khamis is Probably the one i trust most to replace him

Garcia for Dolan - Dolan was just really quiet and not sure how he would go in a big friday night game at the G, hence i would prefer a bit more experience in Garcia

Baker for Cleary - Doesn’t really seem to be anyone left to play defence at this point so i’d say Baker in as he’s probably the next best player available and that may mean Freijah/Truck spend a bit more time down back in replacement of cleary

Baker should be considered for his run at the G. I'm not his biggest fan, but it suits his game.

                  Garcia has to play.

                  Out: Cleary, JOD, Dolan
                  In: Baker, Gardner, Garcia

I actually like Williams at HBF rather than wing, so can we bring in someone for wing and Williams replace Cleary?

I was thinking similar. Arty into the 22 to take the wing, or Poulter in and Williams back.

Khamis probably in for JOD. The Collingwood key forwards aren't the big gorilla types.

I think we rolled the dice and went in a tall short vs NM. We got away with it because Darling is a non-factor, but it could have been worse. Will need the third tall vs the Pies and it can't be Williams. If no 3rd tall, the Freijah plays the role.

I don't think our key back set-up looked right last night. Lobb and JOD were both intercepting the footy but we lacked someone who could take the responsibility on of just stopping Larkey. I'd put Buku in as the third tall / interceptor with Buss being given a job.

Garcia in as we really lacked some midfield grunt so happy for him to come in and take a good chunk of CBAs with Harmes playing high forward.
