I think that's it. I've got a feeling he's got the same voice in his head that coaches used to drill into me all the time "take a steadying step before you kick it, no point running flat out just to shank the kick". That was burned into my brain in my playing days. He looks as though he takes that steadying step after a burst, but almost slows too much and loses power / drive into the kick. Maybe someone with a sports mechanics background could study it. He kicks fine when he's coming off a mark, or isn't moving at pace. His 3 or 4 shanks on the weekend were all after taking 10-15m long bursts I reckon watching it from the ground.👍 2Comment

I thought Buss had earned an extended stint in the side after the GWS game but I'm now thinking that Bevo is liking the two key back set up, he can always swing Williams back if he wants.
If you look at the game just gone, McNeil had more of an impact than Buss likely would have if McNeil was the sub instead.
I just can't see who gets dropped so I think it's quite likely Buss leaves the 23 and someone like Poulter or Baker is the sub.Comment

My opinion is that currently we have only two effective wingmen - Sam Davidson and Bailey Williams. There is no way I would be dropping Davidson. He has all the traits of an effective wingman - pace; hard, two-way running; strong attack on the ball; and the ability to switch quickly between attack and defence. Other contenders for the role - Baker, Treloar, Poulter, Sanders - don't have the full artillery in this role.
I also believe that Lobb, Buss and JOD all need to play. Hardwick has a thing for tall forwards, so I expect Walter, King & Read will all play, as will Mac Andrew and Sam Collins down back. We need to be able to compete in the ai
The weather forecast is for no rain but, as always, the ball will be slippery. I think this will play havoc with Vandermeer's ball handling capabilities so I reckon McNeill should play and VDM should be sub.👍 1Comment

I wasn't there either and my understanding also was that Williams started down back. But that's part of the week by week selection with Williams. His start position on the whiteboard is wing but when the opposition lineup is factored in, he sometimes moves to a position of greater need. Davidson has pretty much lined up on the wing all year and, yes, he runs very hard.Comment
