I must be the only person who thought Baker played a decent game of footy.
He had the third-highest metres gained for our side, delivered two direct goal assists with very good forward 50 entries, and was always willing to back his legs in and take the ground in front of him.
I thought it was telling that Bevo moved him to a half-back flank when we struggled to move the footy because those other backs were stagnant or horrendous by foot. I thought he earned a spot against the Hawks.👍 2Comment

I thought he played ok. My worry was the use of Truck, Duryea and the performance of JJ although the Geelong smalls didn't kick too many.

I watched him closely and at halftime he was in the top 5 for most stats. He was way ahead of Dale, for example. So in a team that had appalling skill and organisation in the first half I am surprised by the excessive criticism. He often makes good positioning and is ignored.
There’s at least 6 who contributed to Geelong’s win. Even our best made significant blunders. Bad decisions and bad skills.
If Richards had kicked to Khamis as well as Baker kicked to English for his goal we would have been in a winning position.👍 1Comment

I'm not a huge wrap for Baker, other than always respecting his work rate and aggression, but I also thought he was pretty good last night.

His kick to English was high IQ precision play."It's over. It's all over."Comment

Can easy see Buss for Jones, no issue with that.
If we go smaller, no Jones/Buss.
Cleary over Baker, Duyrea and Bramble in the hope, he becomes better than them.
Freijah is D6/7, as well as wing.
Backs:
Jones - Lobb - JOD - Truck - JJ - Dale
Outside:
Freijah - Harmes
Inside:
Libba - Bont - Richards
Ruck:
English
Forwards:
Naughton - Darcy - Sanders - Mennedy - West - VDM
INT: Cleary - Trelor - Davidson - Khamis
Sub: McNeil
Bubble:
Jaques - Buss - Dolan - Lennedy - Coffield - Bramble - Gallagher - Baker - Scott - Hynes - Duyrea
Not in the Mix:
Smith - Gardner
Injured:
Garcia - Croft - Arty
Ins: Trelor - Darcy - Jones
Out: Bramble - Baker - Duyrea

Cleary is only one that played 3 qtrs for 10 possessions. Those others had the ball more and some kicked goals. Do you count a miss from 40 straight as a Clanger?
Mistakes more the offical clangers. Eg Short kicks into a contest.👍 1Comment

Anyone else think we could try Treloar in defence? Did it a few years ago in the back end of 22 or 23 and he did play well. I hope we back in Cleary who obviously had a disaster and also think one of Williams or Freijah might get permanently moved to defence. Can't play Bramble, Duyrea and Baker in the same team but I still trust Bramble the most. Duyrea is 34 and really should be back up and Baker can barely kick the ball without it almost missing his foot despite being fast. Dale, JJ, Adz, Williams, Bramble as small defenders makes me feel more comfortable.👍 1Comment

No... and he performed extremely poorly as a defender back in 2022. He is an AA midfielder and that's where he needs to play.Anyone else think we could try Treloar in defence?
