Great display tonight but the thing I am most proud of was the fact that the utmost respect was paid to Jack Macrae in the fact that not one boo seemed to come from the punters side of the fence. Jacko gave his all for our club and will forever be a Bulldog premiership player.

Credit to the team for not caving when Darcy injured himself. In previous seasons we have not responded well when we have had serious in game injuries under Bevo.
I still have a vivid memory of being 50 points up against the saints and collapsing once clay smith did his knee.

1. Bont is king
2. when we run hard and fast off hb we’re hard to beat. JJ, Dale, Bramble all critical
3. Kennedy may be our best “seasoned” recruit ever. We’ve missed a player like him since Dunks left
4. we’ve still scored against too easy when opposition sides run through our web and under pressure get our coverage wrong / defend too high at times - we get caught out the back
5. Naughts is back baby
6. Sando and Fridge are excellent. It’s going to be a genuine “we nailed that” draft in 5 years time. Trading up was the right call.
7. Darcy out is MASSIVE. We’re a borderline top 8 side now I think …. I know one player and all of that, but he’s just so good.
8. we adjusted our entires after he went down which is something I haven’t seen us do well historically.
9. saunters suck - let’s not read too much into it. They’ve got 4 players (last night) if I’m being generous who’d get a game in our full strength side
10. anti social texts work (there was some peanut behind us that someone texted in on - I assume - as security came, had a chat, and he shut up)
11. Also, we really looked to bring the ball back inside last night.
12. Thought Tim did well against Marshall.
13. West is a reliable player now and stays involved.
14. Dolan got better as the game wore on (or at least, I noticed him more). He’s going to be a 150 gamer and a good player in time. He’s clever.Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?😎 3👍 2Comment

I don't want to take much off our win last night but did we cop a but of a benefit for the Saints playing in 35 degree temperature last week?
I mean they weren't as desperate as in previous games I have seen and that is what they're known for. Also copping Bont in that sort of form was a kick to the nuts for themComment

We defended their kick outs so much better you could tell it was a real focus during the week often they got it outside of forward 50 but then has no where to go.
Even Rossy said pregame we had been struggling with it, 14 tackles inside 50 also was solid effort also.
English is still dropping a few marks but he is getting in front of the ruck contest at the stoppage, he was a real influence last night I really liked his game.
The kids are good, Sanders still struggles defensively without ball in hand but he has gained real confidence with it, Davidson is sneaky good in the air and looks to be one of the better runners in the AFL, Joel just has time which is rare and Dolan gets in really good positions and more importantly is one of the better kicks in our team. The athletic traits of Hynes were always going to be a concern particularly early but with ball in hand that kid AFL standard and Jaques and Crofty are two that look to have real potential at the level.
Role players, yes we finally have some good ones. Kennedy, Westy, Williams, Mcsteal and throw in 2025 Vanders and Harmes its a nice list and all of these boys are prepared to do the team thing and all can impact at different stages.
The Bont rose again on Easter Sunday, what a privilege it is to have him at the Kennel. I just wish he had the ability to heel Darcy's knee, we just haven't had much luck this year and its down to Naughty to be the player we all thought he would be a few years ago. A step forward from him last night, we need to see that version on a more consistent basis.👍 1Comment
