I wonder if it's an intentional list management strategy to invest a few spots in some slow burners that take a little longer to develop. I don't follow other lists that closely but sometimes it feels like we hang onto some players longer than other clubs do.

Rocket had to talk Gilbee into giving it one more year on our list and not ask for a a trade the first year Rocket took over as coach too IIRC.

I think Cleary is quicker than people realise. Definitely holds his own compared to opposition players and hit the top speed recorded in the game v Brisbane.
He's one of those players who anticipate where the ball will land better than other players so he gets to the drop a lot quicker which makes up for his lack of leg speed I reckon.
