Whilst we had an excellent record against last weeks opponents having won 7 of our previous 8 games, which gave me confidence we would do well, we’ve got an equally poor record against the Power having lost our previous 4 matches with their mids being a challenge for us to contain.

How do we ensure we win the midfield battle? We have more depth and a different mix, but we need to get on top at the contest.

Rozee has moved to half back in recent weeks and been very effective for the Power. Hopefully we have someone in mind to curb his influence. On the plus side if he's in defence he can't torch us in the middle again like last time.

For this reason perhaps VDM plays a full game on him and McNeil is the sub?

        FG - Naughton
        BOG - Libba

Port has serious quality through the midfield and their ability to move the ball quickly through the corridor is unrivalled when they're up and about. Will be a tough match to win.

I think it will be a high quality match if conditions play nice and could go down to the wire.

A win would set our season up perfectly.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

Looks like no Liam Jones in the Magoo's but he isn't an emergency in the main game?

Their mids worry me too, and with Georgiades (who I think kicked 3 in the first quarter against us in Adelaide last time) poses a real threat. Rozee, Butters and Wines had a combined 1st quarter of about 30 possessions didn’t they. We have to be able to curb them.

English needs to have a MASSIVE game, not only curbing Sweet in the centre square, but also dominating around the ground, and going fwd. what we can’t have is someone like Lord latching on a few and kicking a bag. Rioli is dangerous, and ofcourse anger man himself JHF.

our recent form against this mob is of great concern. We need to start well, and we need to be on top in the midfield, and we need to tag ONE of Wines or Butters. If Darcy was out there, and we had an inform Jones playing, I’d probably pick the dogs in Ballarat, but I feel they will just get the job done, buy being a lot cleaner with the ball, especially coming out of defence with the likes of Rozee, Farrell and Burgoyne.

Yeah they're well balanced now that Lord is contributing. Their key backs are still suspect though pity we dont have Darcy to really exploit them (we did ok last week though!).

They match up against us really well across the ground but we're playing a different brand of football at the moment and I'm liking it.

I agree that English is key to a positive outcome.

                  Should be a good spectacle.

Port have a deep midfield and while Treloar is back it gives our midfield group a very different look and feel to what we’ve been running.

Im worried it’s a “find our feet” game

Hoping we’re class enough to not let that stop us.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

If the game was played at Marvel would it be fair in suggesting that 1,000 Port supporters would attend, so it isn’t really a big difference.

But probably 5,000 Bulldogs fans can’t attend due to the redevelopment.

The club has done a lot right in recent times off the field, but they’ve ****ed this one up.

I hear all of you but honestly think we will get over them. I think that we play well at the ground and that our mids have been fantastic this year.

Big test for the mids to push back and apply pressure but they are up for the fight.

                          Dogs still win this
                          BB.

Looking forward - Naughton, Darcy and JUH. It will be the envy of everyone.
