Truth is we were terrible last night. First quarter was a disaster. Their season was unravelling and we allowed them to walk all over us.
The English miss in the first set the tone. He is not a big game player
The Sanders miss was the crucial psychological moment - the absolute killer - as it would've lifted us and set the alarm bells ringing in their heads.

The first 30 seconds. I said something like "it's going to be one of those nights" after that. And then it was.

The entire 1st quarter was an indictment on the club, but especially on our senior mids. They were absolutely nowhere for 30 minutes.
If we're talking specific moments, the Dale/Bramble screw-up in the 2nd robbed us of strong momentum, as it basically resulted in a 3 goal turnaround inside 90 seconds.
I don't want to deliberately pot the kid but what McNeill did in the 3rd is almost a career destroyer. Every element of that play was diabolically executed - the obvious telegraphing of his intentions, the high loopy execution of the kick, the decision in the first place to retreat 10m and then go lateral, the designated target of the intended kick (we aren't going to do a fast play transition with the ball in Gardy's hands). None of it benefitted the team in that passage of play but he went ahead with it anyway."Look at me mate. Look at me. I'm flyin'"👍 2Comment

The McNeil one was absolutely disgusting football. It reminded me of the time we all went berserk over Billy Gowers kicking across the middle in the dying stages of a close game against the Suns. Inexplicably stupid decision, poor execution, and to a player we don’t want with the ball in hand.
It is too big a risk carrying limited players that’ll do that in a side that needs a lot to go right to start with.
They’ve bashed us a few times now. Too physical. That’s a horrible look.Time and Tide Waits For No Man👍 1Comment

Amazed it’s taken people this long to notice McNeil on the field. He’s played exactly like this for years, 63 games. It’s like people just accepted he would be in the team each week so why bother talking about it.Comment

People are going to bag Gardy regardless. Thought the only really poor effort of his was the weak attack on the footy that allowed Ginnivan through for his goal and taunt. That was indecisive, amateur stuff. The rest of the game I saw a limited, but honest player doing their job in very challenging conditions in terms of the structure and play up in front of him.Time and Tide Waits For No ManComment
