Treloar had one registered tackle… must’ve been a ****ing good one!

And he played forward for large parts and had no influence… doesn’t chase and doesn’t hit up.

Feel like we look better without Adz, which is probably not actually true however, the mix isn't right if he can't go both ways.

        1. Not rising to the occasion is becoming a thing
        2. Treloar didn't look right
        3. Not good enough atm against the better sides
        4. I'm the flattest I've been after a game this year.

Let's judge him over the next couple weeks. He came off early with a knock to the knee so that might have factored into his performance early on.

            1. McNeil's best is Dolan's average
            2. If Liam Jones is cooked Buss, Sellwood, Jacques need to play asap, it can't be any worse.
            3. Inaccuracy with EASY goalkicks is still not acceptable. As bad as we were, against ruthless teams those easy 3-4 goals squandered every feckin' game would keep us in the game, build confidence, connection and even win.

Last year at the end of the Home and Away we had the LEAST points scored against us of all 18 teams. This year only Hawthorn has more than us from top 8 teams in the current ladder.

              1. Whoever said the English is our biggest barometer is spot on. He wasn't bad but meek made us very reactive rather than proactive in the middle.
              2. Our structure at the start was horrible. Cleary was on chol for long periods of the first quarter. It was predictable that gunston was going to drag lobby or JOD out of the d50. With battle and barass going to astro and buku, weddle was always going to cause trouble. Feels like we kind of lost at match committee.
              3. I can't figure out where I like freijah the most. In defense, he has an uncanny ability to half a marking contest , keep his feet then get the ground ball. In the midfield he demonstrated that he can take on pressure and break tackles.

I hope not. I still have faith in him, but has to train and play on the edge, or break trying.

Despite some people on this forum having a go at English and saying he was thrashed, I cannot agree. English had more clearances than Meek, more disposals, more inside 50s, more tackles and only lost HTA by 5. He was very aggressive, especially when the ball hit the ground after a ball-up. He let himself down by missing two easy goals. Marks around the ground were even as were contested Poss.
We won centre clearances and Tim wasn't the reason we lost, or Meek the reason they won.

Lol, English was smashed by Meek when the game mattered. He was better when the game was over.

I understand the angst about Naughton , but alot of us are forgetting that preseason he contracted Glandular fever , which takes a long time to fully get over , this may sound like an excuse , but in my early days did have Glandular fever and i can tell you 1st hand how debilitating it really is , even when you think yopur over it yopur not ,it takes a hell of a lot of time to finally get rid of it fully .
He probably needs a good break but he will battle on .
We need an over haul of our back line , Dale , Lobb and O'Donnell stay , we have to get players that can dispose of the ball correctly and can run .
Our kicking for goal just has to improve , how? i dunno maybe they train doing it , because what they are doing now isnt working , or not training enough .
You can improve your kicking accuracy its a proven fact if you work hard enough at it .
Example , i remember Stewart Loewe , who when he 1st started was an atrocious kick for goal , but with dedication and hard work became a very reliable kick for goal .

How has he improved his craft over the last few years? The the issue for mine he doesn't look more at home on an AFL field than he did very early on.

                          1. Bevo must really hate Busslinger if he's playing Gardiner
                          2. Long contracts are bad business. They're bad business across the league (McKay x 2, Petracca, Oliver etc) and paying Naughton $10m over 8 years is ridiculous. Particularly if you're playing him as a forward. In 20 mins forward Lobb provided far more movement and drew the footy.
                          3. I believe that our gameplan is perfect for beating up on lower teams but doesn't stand up against the best. The best just sweat on us to over handball and over commit on the press - they slow us down around the ball and once we turn it over they go end to end. We've been Sam Mitchell's absolute playthings.
