Jackson Macrae should be in this list somehow. He was x3 all Australian and premiership player. He was a brilliant contributor to this club. If he wasn’t playing at the same time as Bont he would have been considered our best player for a decade.

Given the way it was grouped by era, which of Bont, Libba, Morris, Boyd, Murphy and Blackburn would you replace with Macrae?Comment

Ok, I'll bite, for the sake of the discussion. Virtue signaling aside I think the answer is obvious. The truth will set you free,
but first it will piss you off. ... Gloria Steinem.👎 1Comment

 Coooooooollllld Blooded.........!

I don't agree with the virtue signaling piece, I'm an inclusion proponent and the women's game is in development. But, there's an argument to suggest banging the rocks together doesn't make sense given the infancy of the women's game.

Ultimately I don't care and I'd have Jacko ahead of Libba and Blackburn. Jacko also should be a 4 x All Australian in lieu of the ridiculous inclusion of Shane Edwards in the 2018 team. The guy was an absolute freak for us and it wouldn't be surprising if we don't see anyone as good as he is for a long time. That we had him and Bont playing together and so exceptionally week in week out renders us lucky as supporters.

To me there's just no competition when it comes to Jacko and Libba, even though I feel the latter has been underrated by the footballing public when it comes to being a quality footballer with genuine craft. Maybe he carries influence that I don't see or understand, and if that's the case, that's fine.TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.Comment

I’d have Macrae ahead of Blackburn,
Libba, Morris & Boyd. I also think his a better footballer than Murphy, but can give murphy the points for being a good clubman during a time of need.

I said it earlier in the thread but I have Macrae as the 3rd best dog I’ve seen behind only Bont and Johnson. The only knock on Macrae is he didn’t hit the score board enough.

He is a champion of this club and it feels like the last couple of years have taken the gloss off what was one of the best and most comsistant Bulldog careers.Comment

I think Libba v Macrae definitely has merit, but can understand why Libba's family history probably pushed him ahead. If Macrae was still at the dogs this year, would it be different...maybe? Murphy, Morris, Boyd all clearly ahead of him imo for longevity, leadership and loyalty.I’d have Macrae ahead of Blackburn,
Libba, Morris & Boyd. I also think his a better footballer than Murphy, but can give murphy the points for being a good clubman during a time of need.

I think Blackburn's inclusion makes a lot of sense. She's played 71 games, but that's 9 seasons with barely a match missed. She is a premiership captain. Multiple AA, multiple b&f. Clearly our best women's player. There were still 5 men selected in the 05-25 era, so if anything she's probably knocked out a pioneer for the men's side by being the ultimate pioneer of the women's side.👍 2Comment

I loved Macrae when he played for us but he was not a match winner, he didn't hurt the opposition. He was a massive accumulator of the ball and his stats look great on paper.

I can name lots of players that were better than him and are not on the list eg Griff had enormous talent, Cooney until he ****ed up his knee, Luke Darcy, and moreFFC: Established 1883

All of these guys have played amazing footy in shitty losses.

We don't win a flag without Jacko sneaking out the back to isolate himself in the 2016 PF, and we certainly don't win one without hm putting in a Norm Smith worthy Grand Final. To say Jacko wasn't a match winner for us is ridiculous. He played 18 games or more in every season he played for us and he absolutely dominated in heaps of them. His ability to hold onto the footy and sacrifice his body to release to a receiver is the best I've seen, he could cut the angles by foot better anyone I've seen.Last edited by jeemak; 26-07-2025, 11:36 AM.TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.👍 1Comment

He was clearly above the absolute 'worst on by a country mile' of the 25 selected and far more deserving of honour!
And Libba is? Is Bont always a match winner?
