I think they got it right

From the players I predicted before any announcements, it's Blackburn and Donald in for Henderson and Bissett.

I think the 90s-present players were pretty clear.

This was from an AFL article the other day:

The list is unranked, except for the top five, with the selection criteria encompassing how the player represented the club both on and off field.

Accolades are clearly important, but not everything, with the panel focusing on the figures who embody the Bulldogs spirit and have made the most considerable positive impact to the success of a club that celebrates 100 years in the VFL/AFL in 2025."

I don't see how Tom Liberatore makes the cut over Jack Macrae, on character grounds let alone on field performance. People forget how damaging he and his pinger rat set at the club were for our culture and performance post the grand final win. And at times before it. Not that I'm against pinger rats, I'm not a hypocrite, but I'm not being nominated for best 25 in the history of a footy club.

Jack was a solid citizen and absolutely elite from the word go, and was instrumental in a lot of important games at the club.

Brian Lake is the second best defender I've seen play for the club behind Chris Grant, but I think a lot of it is PR in terms of his omission. Easton Wood missing as a step-in premiership captain is pretty harsh, especially given his all Australian credentials and overall handsomeness.

His name has definitely played a part. As well as his outstanding career

In reality it's splitting hairs and I'm really comfortable Libba is in. We've had 16 men play 249+ games - Macrae, Steve Wallis, Gia and Rohan Smith the four that don't make the best 25.

I guess I've always been biased towards Jacko so maybe that's clouding my judgement. But what I've pointed out about what happened post the GF win still stands even if I'm not going to pull my skirt above my head over it.

I won't try to order them, but my five is Sutton, EJ, Chris Grant, Bont and Ellie.
Maybe biased by having closely watched us only for the last three years or so, so anyone who's not actually playing now I'm not likely to remember too well (if at all). But I like to think I've read enough Bulldog history to give at least a semi-informed take

Libba > Jacko seems right to me. He’s been able to continually re-assert himself despite injury and has been a consistently high quality player.

He’s matured over the journey and he’s one of us warts and all.

Jacko had a fantastic career as a Bulldog too, no doubt, and deserves to be deep in the conversation.

He was a magnificent ruckman and I was pissed off he went to North and played 122 games.
