Always Right Match Committee R18 vs Adelaide 2025

Welcome to the Always Right Match Committee Thread. The Match Committee threads has been named after long time WOOF member Always Right who tragically passed away in March 2018.

If you were on the Western Bulldogs match committee, what changes would you make after our Round 17 match against North Melbourne for our Round 17 match against Adelaide at Marvel on Saturday.

For those new to these threads, please give a brief explanation for your changes ... this would add a lot of value to the discussion.

Our defence was deficient tonight so Busslinger and Jones for Coffield and Duryea.
      Davidson for Poulter.
      Harmes for McNeil.

Agreed. Hopefully Jones and Buss make a good showing in the VFL tomorrow so there's no doubt.

Looking forward to seeing Sellwood too.

Bevo was happy with Coffield, so he won't be dropped

Jones in for Coffield, pretty self explanatory especially against this crows line up. Need to get Jones up and running to take our defence to the next level.

Davo in for Doc, Williams & Dale back to def full time

Harmes in for Poulter, we have enough 3rd tall types - Poulter just isn’t it, doesn’t have near enough in his game to play this role. Hes an outside runner needs to play wing to be any chance, VFL level has so much space forward he works well there but you don’t get that at AFL, has zero ball winning ability. But yeah he’s very much bottom of the depth chart for me. Not interested in him at this level.

            Williams Jones JOD
            Dale Lobb JJ

            Sanders Libba Davo
            English Bont Richards

            VDM Naughty Kennedy
            West Darcy Hynes

            Freijah, Bramble, Garcia, Harmes

Sub I’d go McNeil again, I think he’s our best sub option. But I doubt we do that so not sure, maybe Dolan or we’ll see what happens in the VFL tomorrow.

Feel like this is a much stronger and more balanced side

Thought that was Coffield’s best game. He’ll get another couple. We’re persistent.

McNeil likely to go back for a week? Not sure. Maybe Harmes in for him.

Poulter did a few things. It’s a new role. Would be unlucky, but Davidson should come straight back in.

I get the Crows have some forwards, but I’m more worried about our run still. Maybe Buku as a sub if we have an injury or get really found out? Not sure it’s needed.

              so, two changes for me:
              In: Davidson, Harmes
              Out: Poulter, McNeil
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

I can’t see how Duryea and Poulter play next week - Harmes & Davidson come straight back in for them.

I also feel McNeil & Coffield are skating on thin ice, but will wait and see how the VFL team go first before determining if they make way too.

By not using McNeil last night he can play VFL today. It remains to be seen if he work his way back or not.

                  Duryea should be under pressure.

                    Early prediction.

                    In: Harmes, Davidson
                    Out: Poulter, Duryea

I am tempted to bring in Liam Jones - see how he goes today - if so drop McNeil.

I definitely want Jones back in the side.

Poulter isn’t better than Buku and never will be so flip that back immediately.

If Davidson and [REDACTED] are fit then they come back in, but the guys I’d ideally drop either aren’t positional fits (McNeil, Duryea) or played too well and ruined my agenda (Coffield). I’ll say for McNeil and Duryea with Williams in defence and someone else as the sub but not confidently.

Keeping my powder dry till after the twos but we need change to the defence quickly.

Jones is the key assuming he is not cooked

O'Donnell seemed to injure himself in the last quarter with the marking attempt ... he looked very sore; anyone have more info on this?
