VFL team has a bye next week - that may play into the thinking done by the MC.
There is no sadder sight than a young pessimist.

Adelaide have a good blend of medium and tall forwards so could we see Sellwood debut or a return of Cleary?
We can probably guess that Davidson and Harmes will come in and Poulter, McNeil and Duryea should probably come out.
I can see the MC sticking with Duryea because they will need a bigger sample size before they drop him.

        - Cleary for Doc to help with the medium forwards Crows have. Think Doc is done.
        - Davidson and Harmes back in. Poulter and LMN make way.
        - Dolan for Garcia. I get if we keep Sunny in as it's a bit rough but I see him as cover for Harmes who is returning.

Cleary was good in the VFL on my viewing.

Davidson and Harmes would be definites if right to go.

I would be giving Garcia another go.

I would give him another go, but truth be known I am not sold on him. His decision making is poor and his disposal needs a lot of work

I dunno if Coffeild has the pace to go to either Rachelle , Keys or Rankin , not sure Bussilinger has either , so im hoping we bring Sellwood in for one of those guys , his pace looked ok and i think his been recruited to play on the quick elusive forwards .
L . Jones has to come in to take one of Walker , Tilthorpe or Fogarty .
So my ins and outs .
              INS . L . Jones , Sellwood , Davidson , Harmes .
              QUTS . McNeil , Coffield , Duryea , Poulter .

We’re playing some big boy teams the next couple of weeks and Dolan, whilst a really promising prospect is still playing like a boy… he ain’t ready for big boy footy yet.

We also need to think about the Darcy rotation into the Ruck. For the time he is in the ruck and then has a spell on the bench, the forward line is not afl standard. He needs to spend more time forward. At one stage on Thursday night there was a contest in our back 50 and our forwards were line up down the field. Poulter, VDM, Hynes West, Garcia and Naughton. Opposition teams dont have too much to worry about there. If Sam is there, they have alot to worry about, and probably means the 4 smalls dont have a one on one. Naughton did well against north but having Keane and Butts to contend with by himself for long periods of the game will dry up our scoring. While down the other end they have firepower to hurt us.

Given English can't play 100% game time in the ruck how do you propose we fill the 2nd ruck role if Sam stays forward?

Rachele hurt his knee yesterday so at least that is one less dangerous forward to worry about.

Has to be Buku and possibly play Darcy at Centre Bounce only and Buku play around the ground while English off. The time taken from when Darcy rucks to then rest to back to forward line is too long but Tim Needs to rest. So if we can minimise Sams time out of the forward line OR Buku to help Naughton while Sams not there. The small forwards are not getting the job done so we need the tall. Having 5 smalls and Naughton is not the right combo

Whilst I agree, and I said the same as you in another thread, what do we do with the backline this week?

Adelaide has Thilthorpe, Fogarty and Walker to contend with. So do we bring in two talls for two smalls?

Buku was monstered as the 2nd ruck against Hawthorn and I feel it would happen again if matched up against ROB or Thilthorpe.

Agree that our ‘small ball’ forward line could be exposed, but in reality it’s only for 6-8min a qtr and we do have the option of throwing Bont forward as required.

That list includes 2 of our top 3 goalkickers (Naughton with 31 and West with 24), two players that even non-Dogs fans recognise deserve proper attention from defenders. Still, i's inevitable that when players are on the bench or rotating position, there will be moments when the players forward of centre aren't the cream of the crop. And yet, despite that, we are the best offense in the league. So maybe the guys that you are poo-pooing like VDM, Hynes, Garcia etc. are actually an important part of our scoring offense? Or even others that aren't in the side right now like McNeil, Dolan etc.

Honestly, we don't need to change a thing about our offensive capabilities. Our forward mix is pretty set. Our focus against Adelaide, and looking forward to if we make finals, is figuring out our best backline mix and how to defend well when we lose stoppages.

Jones probably has to play to cover walker. Lobb has Till and JOD has fogarty.

The real thing we need to sort out is who takes the Doc role, hes not the player he used to be. Rankin is next level and will burn him off.
