Unfortunately he's unlikely to be in the mix for selection this week as he missed training due to his illness.

I’ve warmed to him. Also seems popular in playing group & is a good team player. The zillion watt TEST smile is a bonus.

Not sure I agree with it.

Are we really getting enough out of a Poulter or Dolan vs Busslinger or Jones? If plan A doesn't work we're in all sorts.

Let's hope they also remain injury free.

Good ins and outs. Poulter and Coff very lucky.

Ok with the ins but gee I would have liked Jones in there. I am concerned who plays on Keays and Rankine. Both of them could cut us up.

I don't think we're going to get away with that backline against a better team. This is not Norf

Still can't stand Poulter in this team. Hopefully he is sub. Doesn't play wing and 6'3 half forwards don't exist.

Yeah don’t love it to be honest, I just don’t think Coffield offers literally anything Buss or Jones can’t. I’d prefer Jones to free JOD & Lobb up or Buss to play Coffs direct role. Or even Sellwood.

Also think Poulter offers absolutely nothing and especially in what will be a super hot contest can’t see him offering anything but with Harmes missing probably saved him. Hopefully he’s sub though will be very disappointed if Dolan or Garcia get the vest.

Best thing is the great VFL fixturing and Sellwood & Jones in particular can’t even push their case forward for another week

Anyway hope those two prove me wrong, Coffield in particular I know he has more ability than what he’s shown the last couple of weeks. He just has to show it.

Overall pretty confident, as per usual win the middle and we win this game. English is quietly taking scalps of the guys that bullied him in the past, lately. This game should be absolutely number 1 on his hit list, ROB absolutely pulled his pants down like no other last year and I’d say is a massive reason we lost that game.

quietely confident 2025 Timmy is going to be very determined to take the choccies and if he does and gives our midfield good service we’ll win this game. Very keen for an early Saturday blockbuster, can already taste the 11.30am beer. We NEED to show up and get it done this week, zero excuses. We will I think, surely…. Hopefully?

Williams can play tall like Gilbee used to be able to. Between him and Coffield, I can see why we are resistant to bring in the 3rd tall defender and change our overall team structure. It's risky but I get it.

Yeah he doesn’t have anywhere near enough tricks to his game to play the role being asked of him. Not good in the contest aerially, not overly athletic or quick on the lead. In what world other than 190cm+ on the teamsheet, is he offering anything in a 3rd tall forward role. Not a single part of his game translates to that role in AFL level IMO. If Hynes has an off day which is possible if not likely for a 5 game player, you’re potentially carrying two medium forwards with zero impact.

surely he’s just unused sub except for an injury, like McNeil last week. Will be pissed if he starts over Dolan or Garcia

Wouldn't be shocked if this is the backline we run with for the rest of the year. Reality is we just don't have the cattle yet to fix it so going small ball will no doubt help with offense. I'm guessing at this stage we will try and outscore opponents in shootouts and ride that to see how far we go. Don't mind it and prefer to keep the backline as stable as possible instead of switching it every 3 weeks. Clearly it is a weak point and probably a fatal one against the best teams but for 2025 it seems it's the hand we have. Expecting the off season to see some switch ups down there (croft maybe) and hopefully big improvement (Sellwood etc). First to 100 points normally wins so hopefully that is us most weeks.

It's only the IC that presents any concern yet given the mix there, little reason for pessimism or anxiety.
