You would have to think he is a lock for this backline role for the remainder of the season, we just lack quality down there and have found depth in the wing department.

We clearly see enough upside with Coffield (and last week was his best since coming back) that persisting with him is part of our plan.

Im ok with it as on paper he’s the missing type we need. His speed and kicking haven’t been up to par and it’s to be seen if they return, but certainly weren’t weaknesses on his draft card.

Dolan for McNeil is ok, and Davidson has to come back in. Williams back is good selection.

We need a bit to go right, but so do the Cross. Bring it on.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

Win this by 5 goals and we could be 3rd. That's where we're at. Need the Giants and Freo to win at home but it's doable.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

I'm not surprised that Poulter has kept his spot but I would have preferred Khamis but the MC has decided on Poulter at this stage.
Dolan coming in after a good performance in the VFL and replacing McNeil makes sense. We will find out if it's a good choice. Does he start as the sub?

We will also find out if Coffield is good enough. We seem to be gun shy at trying 3 x 195cm+ defenders so Jones is more or less competing JOD and Lobb.

Agree with Poulter and Buku, not too sure what Poulter actually provides the team where's Khamis has played well as a third tall forward plus pitch hit in the ruck, would also allow Darce to spend more time forward, i like Dolan replacing McNeil but i'm hoping Poults starts as sub.

I'm just guessing but McNeil was the sub for the last game so I suspect Dolan is the sub for this one.

Poulter is the Harmes replacement in that wing/forward role. Bevo’s shown a lot of faith in him... he even said last year he’s got a long career ahead of him. He does a lot right, but it’s his kicking and decision making that holding him back a bit.

Yep, I’d be massively surprised if it’s Poulter. It’s either Dolan or Garcia from that list I’d reckon.

I'd like to see Dolan get a full game but I agree that Poulter is likely to start. I'm theorising that MC are going to structure an almost constant 3rd wing to bolster our defence and transition. I think he might find himself as the extra man in D50 and on the flank, a fast sweeper. I dunnno, its fun to speculate.

two fairly fundamental skills for a modern day footballer.

Buku rucking against ROB or Thilthorpe is nightmare fuel!

He was extremely poor in that role against Hawthorn and I’m not sure we’re going there again.

But it's not like Poulter is bad by foot and only makes bad decisions, it's just that it's not his strength. That doesn't mean you ignore that, it's a valid reason to not pick someone with how small the margins are in AFL footy, but we can't forget that AFL footballers are mostly very good at their job. We just remember the odd occasion they make a bad choice or execute something really badly (like that switch kick from Coffield the other day) and forget the majority of their decisions were mostly sound and executed well.

Why Coffield? What does he bring exactly? Extremely slow, can't use the ball, undersized and beaten convincing. What is he in this team for exactly? I struggle with this continuous selection. Why?

He’s still in the ‘new toy’ phase.
