      1. Blow it up. We need to rebuild/refresh, whatever you want to call it. No quality small forwards, no defenders who can defend.

      2. Its quite incredible how we have continually fallen short against the teams above us. By virtue of volume you'd think we would have won at least a couple.

      3. Sanders is neat but we needed more than neat for what we have up. And I'm far from convinced on Croft. That combo could hurt this rebuild.

        1. Sanders, Freijah and Kennedy in particular HAVE to step up in first half’s. When we are carrying guys like McNeil, VDM, Hynes and Dolan (when they’ve played) we cannot afford to be carrying guys in our main midfield rotations. Too much left to Bont, Libba and Richards.

        2. our don’t give in attitude is pleasing but it needs to bear fruit.

        3. our skill level and execution, and defence is not top 8 quality.
I will never see #16 the same!!

          1. Ours was a brave and commendable effort, we aren't that far away. (to TBB - Rhylee West kicked 4 goals from a hff).
          2. Brisbane won't be premiers, half their team drinks their own bathwater.
          3. Our ladder position is about right, not having Weightman, Treloar and Ugle-Hagan hasn't helped.

Brave performance but not quite good enough again

I don't know if we can close the gap on the better teams. I had previously been confident that we could.

3 tall defenders wasn't necessarily needed.

West is a medium marking forward for mine, not a small, crumbling, crafty small forward. McNeil and VDM are our small forwards.

                1. Our bottom 6 players just aren't consistent AFL quality players, when you compare them to those of the teams above us the Gap is quite noticeable.
                2. He wasn't out worst player tonight, but Sanders is not a wingman. All Wingers have at least one elite trait whether it be speed, kicking, contested marking, endurance running etc and Sanders has none of those.
                3. Garcia shouldn't be taking inside minutes away from Kennedy, he's not influencing games to the effect Kennedy has and I think it makes us a worse team.

You are of course entitled to your opinion. McNeil and VDM maybe classed as small forwards are also liabilities imo.

1 - Somebody cursed my AFL and NFL teams to crush bottom teams but continually fall agonizingly short against the playoff contenders, all while having an awesome attack and diabolical defense. The Western Bulldogs season thus far is almost a carbon copy of the Cincinnati Bengals last season.

2 - There is something NQR with the fixture when we play Brisbane and GWS twice before playing West Coast or Melbourne at all.

3 - The ARC will continue to be a joke until they put cameras in every post.

We sort of...are doing this? 8 or 9 guys under 50 games tonight. There is plenty of quality at the top end and you'd love that to be lifting us to top 4, but our 22-27yo is a bit of a death zone.

Arty, Poulter, JOD, Marra, Cleary, Davidson, McNeil, Garcia, Weightman, West, Khamis, Naughton, Coffield, Williams, Bramble, VDM, English, baker, Gardner - a generous 8 out of 19 are good quality AFL players, and I think we will continue to phase out some of that group and aim to replace with better 25 year olds or 18 year olds with potential.

I didn't learn much tonight. We're just as not good enough as we were 8 hours ago.

1 - We haven’t improved during the season.

2 - Our defensive structure over and above personal is a major problem. Beaten by uncontested marks 2 weeks in a row.

3 - Cleary can cement his spot in the team for 2026.

He needs some friends in that back line that can defend the ground ball and intercept, I hope Jacques, Sellwood and Walker are good enough (2 would be nice - very confident in Jacques).

I’m interested in Steven May for a couple of years - his the best value for money pick imo. I wouldn’t be against having a look at Saad on the cheap if Carlton blow their list up. Think his defensive actions are underrated.

                          1. Our inexperienced players are pretty much out of puff, but we can work on that over preseason and they will improve

                          2. It's not just Adelaide who are huge compared to us. Brisbane are "thick" all over the park and we aren't. It didn't seem that pronounced earlier in the season but it does now

                          3. Apparently just lying on the ball after trapping it still isn't a free kick, even after the Draper debacle. Special points for Zorko getting up and asking for a free kick

Everything else that transpired was fairly predictable. We need to stop giving away the wide ball in transition as the next one inside clearly exposes us. Again it's fixable but it's very annoying at the same time.
                          TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

The Dogs don't and won't blow it all up, only poorly run footy clubs do that. Good footy clubs like Geelong, and like we have done over the last few years, transition the list over time rather than doing what Carlton is about to do and just completely restarting fresh.

If you want to sit in the bottom 4 for half a decade, good for you. I prefer to stay competitive while you rebuild, thanks. And we also don't need to rebuild, we are still in a rebuild right now lol

                              1. Both inside 50 and in defensive 50, we lack a ground ball threat. Outside of West, we don't have anyone that can crumb the ball and kick goals or at the very least trap the footy and force a stoppage so our defense can set up. And when the ball goes inside defensive 50, if we don't intercept the ball in the air, it feels like we always give up a goal. That is not true, obviously, but it happens with enough regularity that it feels that way.

                              2. If you don't have great ambitions for this footy club over the next 2-3 years, you don't know ball.

                              3. We will basically need to win all 5 of our last games, maybe we could afford a loss depending on who to. So if we make finals, it'll be because we've beaten some quality opponents and found a good rhythm in our game. So I am not too worried, I will let the coaches try and work out our defensive woes and trust we'll find a way through.
