Well two games to go in the VFL, I’m very doubtful he will get a game in VFL now .
Question is do we see what clubs offer and turf him for the best one, or will a club even chase him when his contract finishes next year anyway ?
Has he shown enough to keep him ?
one thing is for sure his next contract with anyone will be very low .
Maybe put him on the rookie list .

Marra is Marra and his challenges are complex.
He will either find a way to push through it with us and knuckle down or he will request a trade and hope that a new environment sharpens his focus.
Interstate away from some people down here might be the best move for Marra.
Total refresh. I can't see him playing again for Dogs. If we were to get a second rounder we take it and move on from a very sad outcome.

Would be sad if the two NGA players we invested years of development into pre and during AFL careers were to be gone at the end of the season.

Agree with an interstate move away , but boy oh boy , we nurtured this kid for many years and to just see all that work all that good will just go POOF is heartbreaking .
When Marra finally showed us why we put so much time into this kid , i finally said to myself at last we have a generational talent that will kick hundreds of goals and stay with us for many years , be one of our greats , only to come to this , and i know his having or is going through tough times , but it dosnt hurt any less knowing how much many many people think of this club and would give anything for success , and on the other hand how little some people think of this club , just a crying shame all round .
I wish Marra all the best in private life , but cant honestly say i wish him the best if he were to go to another club .

It is sad when such a big investment doesn't work out, but then there is Joel Freijah. Pick 47 and made us better in his first year! Throw in a Matt Kennedy pretty much for nothing and you can start smiling again.
No need to even mention that tall guy!

I think this is more along the lines of we don’t him than him wanting out .
He did recently say he wanted to stay and felt he owed the club.
I do feel he is gone now as much as I hoped he would come good .
Two games left in the VFL and he hasn’t been able to put a training block together of any significance .
A lot similar to the Stringer situation.
Couldn’t pull his head in and too late by the time they realise .
Very sad when you know the talent they had.
We got low balled with the Stringer deal and will with this one but did Stringer ever achieve anything better than when he was with us ?
He turned out an average footballer with some rare tricks .

I do find it hard to reconcile his strong attachment to his community and the narrative that he'd want to move interstate. Surely if anything he'd want to go to Geelong and be closer to home?

Getting himself healthy mentally and physically would be best for community.

This is a situation beyond football right now IMO

He doesn't owe the club. The club doesn't owe him. That's not how any of this works (I know the sentiment was his, not yours Ledge).

He can't play for the Dogs again...sometimes you just need a clean break. This is one of those times.

I just wonder if that is achieved by breaking away from it completely?

Western Bulldogs star Jamarra Ugle-Hagan opens up about his turbulent year

After a turbulent year, Western Bulldogs star Jamarra Ugle-Hagan says he’s in a better place— leaning on fitness, journaling, and strong friendships to keep moving forward.

Troubled Western Bulldogs star Jammara Ugle-Hagan has revealed how he keeps his mental health in check during this “tough time”, the public attention and why he still loves footy.

The towering Bulldog’s player has been out for the season following a series of off-field incidents and antics, exclusively told Page 13 he was now in a good place mentally.

Physically as well. Ugle-Hagan is looking as fit as ever, bulked up and most importantly thinking of a clean and healthy way forward.

Having returned from a stint at a wellness retreat up in far north NSW earlier this year, Ugle-Hagan is using self-awareness tricks as habits now.

He stays grounded by waking up every morning to write in his journal, something many athletes have embraced to guide them, reflect and keep them on track.

“Mentally I’m getting better,” Ugle-Hagan said, stepping out publicly for the first time since his life hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

“I’m journaling every morning as soon as I wake up.

“I feel like that is more in my interest now to get me through this tough time.”

Often picturing himself in the gym on social media, he said working out was a good release from his inner demons.

“I love training myself and putting myself through something I can get better in,” Ugle-Hagan said. “It is an easier way for me.”

Currently single, he said socialising with friends who were good for him was a great way to also keep his mental health in balance.

He laughed that stepping out for the gala opening of the Melbourne International Film Festival on Thursday night at Hoyts Melbourne Central was not his usual setting. He was later rubbing shoulders with our arts and culture world at the lavish after party at The State Library chatting at length with MIFF board member and actor Tony Briggs.

Ugle-Hagan was there playing plus one to actor Kylah Day, who most recently scored a Logie nomination as the Graham Kennedy award for most popular new talent following her breakout role in outback drama Territory.

Hanging out with fellow friend content creator Brooke Blurton of The Bachelorette fame, he said the girls were part of a wide support group of friends who helped him and had his back.

“I didn’t even expect to even come to this event but I was fortunate enough to come with my friend Kylah Day as her plus one,” he said following the Australian premiere of the motherload of motherload psychological drama If I Had Legs I Would Kick You starring Rose Byrne.

“I didn’t think I was here for the movies, just for an event. So I just sat down and watched the film. It was a lot, but is an interesting film and I enjoyed the whole thing,” he said (believe us when we tell you the chaotic-cortisol flooding flick is not for the faint hearted).

“I’ve had some things go on this year and it has been challenging. But the fact that I can show up to events like this makes me feel a lot better,” he said.

“It is good to get out other than just football. Socialising is a really massive thing and just distracts yourself from, I don’t know, just natural life, your wellbeing.

“It is a distraction and embraces who you are.”

“I’ve got a support team. A family I’ve created in Melbourne and bonded with and that’s why it is so hard to definitely fall off now.

“Luckily I’ve got a good support team around me now.”

While he said getting recognised wherever he goes around Melbourne can be hard, along with constant public scrutiny and media attention, Ugle-Hagan conceded that was part and parcel of footy in a city which treats the sport like a religion.

But does he still love the game? You bet, as well as his Western Bulldogs Football Club. Where and how he belongs with the club is up to the future, but for now Ugle-Hagan has his head down and pushing in the right direction.

“Melbourne, all of Victoria, it's a massive role being part of the AFL system.

“Obviously it is going to be hard and you do get recognised wherever you go compared to WA or Sydney, but that’s okay,” he said.

“It’s been a challenging year, but I love the Bulldogs.”

Western Bulldogs assistant coach Brendon Lade says Jamarra Ugle-Hagan ‘wouldn’t get a game’ in the club’s VFL side

Jamarra Ugle-Hagan hasn’t played a competitive game of footy in nearly 12 months, but that won’t change in a hurry as a Western Bulldogs assistant coach says he’s a long way off VFL footy.

Western Bulldogs assistant coach Brendon Lade says Jamarra Ugle-Hagan would be “lucky to get a game” in the VFL before the end of the season.

Lade said the troubled forward had set himself back “a couple more weeks” in his bid to return to football after missing training sessions over the last fortnight.

Ugle-Hagan, 23, has been open this year about his difficult mental health battle and Lade said he had been dealing with some family issues in recent days.

The former No. 1 pick is expected to pursue a trade at the end of the season and has been linked to Sydney.

His last game of competitive football was in last year’s elimination final loss against Hawthorn, and it is understood he has not attended a Western Bulldogs match this season.

“ (Ugle-Hagan) still rocks up (to training) … he’s had a few things going on with his family the last week or so – we haven’t seen him as much the last couple of weeks,” Lade told 3AW on Sunday.

“Prior to that though, he was at every session and really putting his name up to play in the VFL and hopefully get back to some good footy before the year’s end.

“But at the moment, he’s probably put himself back a couple more weeks, and the way the VFL (team) is playing at the moment, he might be lucky to get a game.”

Footscray beat Box Hill by 19 points on Saturday to trail the Hawks at the top of the ladder only by percentage, and secured a crucial top-two finish with one round remaining.
