I remember my nanna telling me about Micky Malthouse around 1984-1985, when I was five or six. Also remember going to a couple of finals that year, but unfortunately didn't get out to the Western Oval much at all as we were eastern suburbs kids living a ten minute walk away from VFL Park.

We did get to a game at Victoria Park that I don't really remember. It might have something to do with me walking dead straight into a pole forehead first on Victoria Street after the game. For years later my dad used to point out that very pole if ever we drove past it!

Twodogs enters the chat and tells the story about how he took a screamer in kick to kick after training, and Royce Hart told him it's the best mark he's ever seen!

I was 10 when Bluey Hampshire took over. I don't really remember any coach before that.

When I first started as a kid in 1967 it was Charlie Sutton but I was just following the team and didn't take much notice of the coaching side of things.

    Mick Malthouse - mid 1980’s.

Love him still to this day.
