The first I ever really noticed any our coaches was Billy Goggin.
Who was the head coach when you started supporting the dogs?

The first coach I remember was Terry Wheeler but wasn't old enough to know much outside of results and a few player names.
Weird though as I don't remember Alan Joyce. Terry Wallace is the coach I actually remember as a person.Comment

Don McKenzie, still remember when he was out on the ground when the crowd rushed on for Kelvin Templeton at the Western Oval, standing by his side, you'd never see that these days.Comment

EJ was the first coach I really remember, but I did go to games as a young fella when Charlie was coaching.👍 2Comment

As a Bulldog from birth it was technically Don McKenzie, although I have no idea who he was.
Malthouse is the first coach I can remember, however I do recall often borrowing the Footscray footy kids book in primary school which had a line about everybody being sad when Bluey Hampshire got the arse. Fortunately as the only bulldogs supporter I knew the book was always available to borrow.👍 1Comment

You found him!
I got into footy a bit later and only really started paying attention in about 2003.
I remember a game against the Pies in '04 when we were within a couple of kicks at three-quarter time and they torched us in the last. Eddie Mcguire was on commentary and said something to the effect of "and this is what breaks Bulldog supporters' hearts"...by then, it was too late to turn back.😞 1Comment

Me too. Ted in the mud at Whitten Oval. So you would also be a fan of Dave Darcy, John Jillard, Ray Walker, Bob Spargo, John Schultz, Merv Hobbs et al.👍 2Comment

2008, so Rodney Eade. Though back then I'd watch maybe one or two games a year and then finals if we made it, so I didn't know who Rocket was until much more recently.
Bevo's the first coach I've known about while they were still in the job.
