    Re: Player Contract Status

Axe I heard on the afl coverage any picked between pick 1 and pick 20 receive a three year contract - Cooper Hynes falls into this category.
More of an In Bruges guy?

I thought it was the first round but either way Hynes qualifies for a 3 year contract. You may note Sanders and Croft are contracted to 2026, but Smith only to 2025 as this rule came in last draft (Freijah signed a 1 year extension to 2026 late in the season).

I thought it was the first round also but Reiley Beveridge said it was the top 20 picks (which makes sense considering the amount of F/S, NGA etc).

Class of '25 is interesting. Few veteran stalwarts types. I still reckon on the quiet that libba's durability has been unexpected and thrown some succession planning timelines out of kilter. Be a curious watch if both treloar and libba both play 20+ games this season.

That’ll take Darcy to free agency I believe?
he might be the highest paid player in the game in 2030 if he stays healthily and reaches full potential.

Beauty of Darc is he has the attitude to be the best too. It's rare you get the sublime talent and application in the same package.

                  Incredibly exciting times.

Darcy signing till at least 2029 , in my opinion gives off tremendous hope for the future this guy will be the next big thing if his body holds up , a guy that height should not be able to have the control he does below his knees , and his aerial ability will go from strength to strength as he gets stronger , imagine him after another 2 or 3 pre seasons with another 5 to 10 kegs of weight , no back man will be able to push him around , can't wait to see him kicking goal after goal and winning games off his own boot .( hopefully )

I don't even necessarily think Darcy needs to put on more weight, just get stronger. I don't want him to lose his mobility. Mind you his dad was pretty solid but mobile as they come.

Yeah agree about getting stronger but when you look at his lineage you can see his dad Luke was strong and around 100 kg and 197cm didn't get pushed around much , and his grandfather Dave Darcy played at around 84KG and was 188cm tall so you can see all big men , with the ability Sam has i doubt another 5 kg would slow him down, the guy is a natural , another 5 kg on his frame all it would mean, he would hit so much harder .

Hahaha yeah your right Happy , he is insane even now but my hope is he becomes totally insane, the type of player i used to cringe when seeing on the team sheet of opposition sides , the likes of Paul Salmon at his best and Tony lockett in his prime , the guys you knew would destroy you and you couldn't do a thing about it .
