Really impressed with that win. Horrible conditions with the cold and wet, so to be able to maintain our composure when they got within 8 points and steady the ship was a massive tick for the group.

The loss of Treloar clearly really hurt us. They were able to sub Cadman for a small, and while we had probably planned to sub Lobb or Marra and gain an extra small, we couldn't.

Arty Jones - fantastic. Getting better every week.

I thought the forwards all had good games, in that they took their chances. The first snap from Marra. Lobbs set shot from outside 50. Cody winning a key 1v1 and slotting it. Naughton nailing his two in the final quarter. Given the wet and cold, it's a great return.

    God Save the Bont.

At three quarter time and in the lead up to that point I was super happy with the professionalism of the way we managed the game's tempo and constrained GWS, a bit like I was with our third last week where we starved the Hawks of any opportunities.

We clearly lapsed in the first half of the last quarter, but responded really well. You add the conditions to that and it was a danger game that we walked away with.

Apart from his two goals (that outside 50 one was a thing of beauty) I thought Lobb showed a bit more steel in some ground level and contested ball situations. Some of his ruck tap work I also thought was clever and shows he is gelling with our players better.

A win is a win. They played a very fast game and were pretty clean in the conditions. There's always a big element of chance in conditions like this. Very congested play, smothers, hack kicks, hack swipes, kicks off the carpet - they can go to advantage IF you're lucky. And we tended not to be tonight.

Still we got the job done. Next week is a big game. It's our op to stake a claim. I do not like Carlton or their supporters.

That patch after XOH scored for them felt like the weekly collapse, such was the panic and swift nature of their 4 goal run. Su ked a bit of joy and some percentage out of the win.

I know its good to have a win in tough conditions, but the last 3 goals cost us 3% points. % will matter towards end of season.

GWS are a dangerous side and their 4th last place should not be treated as a lowly opposition team.

                    WE 99.5% PF vs PA : 616 vs 619

                    if we added 18 points it would be: 616+18 = 634 vs 619 = 102.4%

Weird game. Feels to me like we only won on the scoreboard. Half chances turned into goals for Arty, JJ, Naughton and Lobb were the difference, meanwhile the Giants squandered a lot of easy shots.

It's an even competition this year so we've got to be happy with the four points, and with the 5-3 record. Hopefully we can improve from here to start playing the kind of football we all think this group is capable of playing, but it's also worth confronting the reality that we're not a contender right now. Our ledger is in better shape, now we need to find another gear.

Geez dude you'd give Adam Kingsley a run for his money.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

Bevo is very salty about our performance tonight.... I like it..

He kinda even gave Bont a clip.
When set up by the journo to give a nice verbal feel good cuddle to Bont for how amazing he was tonight, he didn't bite and actually said yep,..and there were some other influential mids out there to.. I thought Tom Green was terrific...

He was really seething.. and he wasn't afraid to articulate with examples of what he was talking about. Some of the situations where we had all but won the clearance and just given it to them, by fumbling or turning it over unexpectedly.

They had 49 possessions and 11 more inside 50s. To win is highly unusual for us with those type of differentiations. We normally have more possessions and inside 50s and either just win or lose in the Bevo era.

Good sign that we could win with that differential. Not a good sign to concede that differential. Bevo made it clear in the presser he wasn’t happy with some of the numbers.
