Re: Western Bulldogs vs Hawthorn - Practice Game 23/02/24

    Watching the replay now.

    QTR time observations;

    - Sanders is excellent. Does everything well. Smart, composed, tough, skilled.

    - Coffield was great early. Read the play well, some nice link up play, used it well, spoiled it well. Fully fit he'll be pretty handy

    - Bramble can find the ball. Part of me wonders if he could be a wing option, and I still prefer Williams as a half back at his best.

    - Darcy just needs to play. Freak talent.

    - Libba isn't slowing down. He's a marvel.

    - Khamis is one I like. Composed, rangey, skillful. I think he can play a bit of footy against the slower lumbering forwards and have an impact.

    - Need to find a way to get Arty involved more. What he does is damaging with his raw pace and he's very clean with brilliant agility. He can make things happen, just need to see more of it. Another one that I wonder if he may be better suited to a wing role.

    - Naughton looks strong and fit, moving well. West looks a lot sharper than he did this time last year too.

    Onto QTR 2.

      He wants in.

This is my problem with Arty. Great moments but not enough of them.

Even the game against Carlton last year, which was one of his better AFL games, he only really had a handful of involvements.

Until he is more consistent, I think he is a VFL player.

I love Arty and agree but I wonder sometimes is it hindering him not doing his natural instincts and trying to follow positional instructions ?
I’ve watched him a few times off the ball and it looks like he spends a bit of time trying to follow his instructions which takes away where he would instinctly go.
Once he gets the experience of doing both he will be exceptional
          Bring back the biff

Will the 4 headed monster be a thing this season with Lobb and Darcy both being deserving of a spot?

Second game was a belting so to me it means they have got an extremely weak list .
If they want to fall back on injuries as an excuse in the first game , think of who we didn?t play in that game.
The first game had their stronger lineup, though that was apparently hampered by a lot of outs. I just don't know enough or care enough about them to be able to quantify that.

It should be more of a full squad in the next Community game in Tassy barring their injuries so that should give us a better idea on how we are progressing.

I was very impressed with Lobb's and Darc's game chef. It seem to be that Lobby is carrying on where he left off against Geelong last year. He has become more versatile for us now. Darc has to play. Just too good to be left out.

I read that a squad of 30 for the community games 8 on bench 4 emergencies.
Will we send 26 to Tassie this week?

I was interested in finding out how many tackles Sanders had, and seven is a great number to go with the healthy amount of football he got his hands on.

Also nice that he's gotten exposure to having to deal with a tag as early as his first match sim
