She had a bad habit of getting player names wrong which annoyed supporters. Seemed fine today.
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

So for round one assuming Dale and JOD are fit and available, then five of these players miss out plus the sub .

Dale for Bramble or Duryea; JOD for Coffield or Kharmis; no VDM or Darcy or Cleary. Baker the sub?

I really liked Buku's game yesterday. He didn't lose a single contest, at least halving them and mostly winning them with some great marks. Perhaps the opposition in Chol was a bit weak, but some contests Buku won or halved were on Lewis. I can't think of a better performance last year by JOD, who I really like in the side.

I also like what Coffield gives us down back too, so I would love to see us keep both he and Buku in.

I liked Brambles run, but I think Dale is better.

Do you think JOD could play on Fritz and we drop Duryea?

Dale is clearly better than Bramble but I question is more around if we can still find a spot for Bramble or not.

I think JOD could be matched-up on Fritsch but Coffield could be in the mix for that assignment as well.

I wouldn't lose sleep dropping Duryea and I really liked the run that Bramble gave us. I couldn't fault his delivery either, which seemed to be a bit of a knock on him. But then how to we fit Dale, Coff. Buku and JOD in?

              Dale has to play.

Would you drop JJ for Bramble?

Toss a coin between JOD and Buku?

Don't you love pondering these questions and NOT being a selector?

Will we base our team on who is playing for Melbourne, ie match ups?

Lobb played himself into the R1 team for mine after a reasonable later portion of the game, though prior to doing so had five hit outs to advantage from six hit outs which is excellent work.

If he had have kicked the goal in the first quarter then he's probably not even being questioned, and he's not the first veteran to have a quiet practice match and won't be the last. However, he's under pressure and that's hopefully going to bring out the best in him.

I was really impressed with Khamis and it was great to hear he spent so much time on the ground. To me he has to play and I think you can have all of Jones, Khamis, JOD and Coffield in the same side if you really want to. Couldn't be happier with Coffield's work to date, a medium sized defender who can use the footy is something we've lacked for a while outside of some good form from Williams.

She's not intentionally irritating like Dwayne, but she doesn't see the game very well. In a similar vein to Sandy Roberts always seems to be calling a narrative instead of what's right in front of her.

She lost me when she said Coffield drove up to Sydney for a semi final, instead of a prelim (she was corrected quickly, which she should have been given it was the most amazing game of anything the universe has produced).

Outside of that she's no better or worse than the average that makes up the rest of them. She does some things well, other things not so well and so be it.

The Ch7 reach arounds that occur with BT, Brayshaw and the rest of the weirdness all of that entails is of greater concern to me. Even if Bruce has retired.

I confess to an unhealthy paranoia with Fritz. But he does seem to kill us.

Isn't it is great, though, to have too many quality players to squeeze into your best team.

It's yet to be seen whether our changes across Coffield, Bramble, Duryea and JJ, or Khamis and JOD fighting it out with Keath and Gardner on the sidelines with claims, will actually improve us.

Our major issue in defence last year was a lack of continuity and cohesion, it genuinely cost us a finals place. I don't really stress over who ends up in the final side because abilities across the board are close to parity, give or take some attributes when on song (i.e. JJ's run and kicking). Whoever we pick in defence needs to learn to play together without too many injuries disrupting things, and get good experiences across games under their belts.
