What is everyone's thoughts on the Dogs latest 'footy for a fiver' membership push?
I have to be honest, I really don't like it. It's done to hit a meaningless number in the whole scheme of things

To me it's the padded bra of memberships

It sucks. People smart enough to take advantage of it are also very likely to also be smart enough to stop the auto renew so I doubt it helps next year with net revenue and membership figures.

I really don't like how it adds to the pool of people eligible for finals tickets in weeks 1-3 and I think it is disrespectful to our loyal members who sign up early every year through thick and thin.

Is there a breakdown of 18 and 11 game membership numbers available?

as has been mentioned, membership numbers are almost meaningless.

Even though they are just numbers there is an opportunity to try and convert the 1, 2, 3 or low member games to more. We have their details and can work on them

We actually got bugger all from last years late season specials. The smart ones switch off the auto-renew straight away.
The ones that forget to do that contact the club and plead financial hardships and the club of course reverses the charges
There isn't a lot that simply let it slide but of course some do.
It's a trick to get some extra numbers and that isn't a sustainable solution.

If we are going to come out and talk up how we met our ambitious membership targets, it better reflect in the financial results.

We need to push deep into the finals and it might work out quite well.

Obviously the best way to get members on is to to be a good team and win finals, but there is nothing wrong with the “convert cheap memberships that hopped on the wagon to consistent annual paying members strategy.”

Carlton has done it for ten years with success. And they are an onfield rabble although have the more latent supporter base and get a more privileges like free to air games even when they are awful.

Now is the time to try and build up the membership: in the years while most of the Victorian teams are unappealing.
