You're about 4 posts too late Mantis. But I think the concensus is he played like Brian.

Jones is doing a terrific job as the second ruckman/forward, I just hope he doesn't get hurt. Bazza gets double/triple team when he's rucking, but the young small forwards are helping even the contest up.

Did enjoy Wee Man's couple of goals. I thought he showed a bit again in his third AFL game, a few good blocks and was in the right spots when it counted. He just strikes me as a kid who knows where the goals are.

We haven't much to celebrate this year so I'm making the most of it...

However we were all worried about the backline match ups and

                        Wood embarrassed Walker.
                        Murphy killed Gartlett.
                        Morris smashed Betts.

And Griffen well beaten in the first qtr was released in a great move by Eade.
If it wasn't for those shorts I wouldnt have noticed Eddie out there.

I mentioned i had good free seats before the game, but wow, best i've ever had at a game.
Row A on the wing behind the Carlton bench on level 2. The guy behind me had a yell to Mitch Robinson who turned around and thought it came from his bench.
Back to the game, god was i happy.
Williams, Wood and Dale were just brilliant. Wood destroyed Walks and Williams was just awesome. Imagine if we ever got a proper Lake back there... not very confident on that this season though

Hooper has the biggest tank for a little fatboy. Great pressure, held Yarran and got one of his goals from out-running his man. Getting the second proper crumming work was great as well and for the first time, he looked like he really has a place in the league. Very happy with that, it's been a long time since we've had a proper small crumber and now we've nearly got 2.

Hudson was brilliant as stated, Griff has a ripper last quarter and it's so good to have a fitter Coons running again.

Vespa possibly deserves a game and what happens with Barlow? pending matchups against North, Stack might be a chance as well.

Also Ratten, thanks a lot for playing Bower forward and Hendo back. Worked a treat. I also enjoyed Russell as the sub, particularly when you drop Tuohey and Carrazo while playing AJ as a back. brilliant.

Another fun fact about Carlton. While we have beaten the same amount of top 8 teams, atleast we beat a top 4 team

I'm rapt with the performance today! Finally we seem to have adopted the forward press and it's paying dividends. I will admit that i was calling for Eade's head earlier this year but he has won me back. great effort.

Hooper - he may not have had a lot of the ball but he along with Dahlhaus add a great dynamic to our fwd line. he seemed to work had too.

Williams was really good, one of his best games.

I thought Markovic was pretty good even though im generally not massive fan of him.

Cooney is back. He is finally nailing those shos for goal on the run again.

One negative was Josh Hill......he's just not interested. I hope he never plays for us again.

Betts and Garlett are the small fast defensive/ offensive cornerstones , roving and crumbing the specialty, Walker has added to the mix with his ability to find space , Waite is the tall target his contested marking the linchpin to their F50 movement , Kreuzer and Houlihan are the weakest links and can be pressured into making mistakes , the use of a tight mobile defensive screen at the top of the F50 the key to stopping them finding targets , quick fast accurate ball movement the key to breaking the press on the rebound, the use of Griffen dropping back as the extra man will be key

                                Gibbs - 76% disposal efficiency, 226 kicks , 96 handballs , 45 tackles , 103 marks, 9 contested marks , 49 rebound 50,s , 9 goal assist
                                Judd - 67% DE , 173 K , 198 HB , 90 T , 38 M , 2 CM , 62 inside 50,s , 20 GA

                                Murphy - 73% DE , 230 K , 174 HB , 68 T , 66 M , 1 CM , 59 I 50,s ,10 GA
                                Robinson - 68% DE , 179 K , 111 HB ,50 T, 41 clangers , 75 M ,8 CM , 58 I 50,s , 5 GA

The most obvious point is their ability to break laterally to find space . Gibbs drops back as the extra man and finds space his rebound 50,s a key to their switch of play , Ward is the best man on man matchup to shut him down . Judd is the stat monster, his enormous workrate tight in the contests then working forward to create goals has to be contained Picken has to work him over like he did to Ablett , Simpson works as the 3rd link and works across the ground to create angles to get the ball forward , Murphy works as the 2nd link with Judd dangerous as he ducks his head to get free kicks he has 38 frees for tackles have to be hard and low , Robinson gets on the defensive side of the contest and is the weakest link in their midfield put pressure on him and he makes mistakes

Tough game but we can break their two level press ( 1st level Betts , Garlett and Walker I 50) ( 2nd level Judd, Simpson, Murphy top of the 50 ) by quick accurate ball movement , players will have to work hard to create space to provide targets , any delays in decision making will give them too much time to block/ cover spaces ,we have to stay with our zones and not have players pulled in close to the contest , we have to finish the 1ST quarter very strongly to break up any momentum they might be trying build , the same with the start of the 3RD come out hard and shut down their lateral movement and hurt them on the scoreboard

                                Dogs by 19 points
First Goal Gia ( free kick )
                                BOG Ward

                                .
Well , I got a few points right anyway ( OK not the score , FG or BOG )

                                .
