I like Bonts but he looks very inside at the moment, looks more of what we have in surplus. Good boy Wood, brave lad to stand under that

Fair enough, not sure what I've done to deserve this, but it's your right to be rude. But to your argument, it's so inane. Send your angst elsewhere.

Can't agree chef. We still have from that era the following playing today:

        M Boyd , L Dahlhaus, T Liberatore, R Griffen, S Higgins, A Cooney , R Murphy, L Picken, Minson
        E Wood , D Morris, J Roughead D Giansiracusa.

I don't get it. How can we play such a strong first half and then capitulate so pathetically? If we blame the coach for the second half then I assume we also give him the credit for the first half.

I wouldn't have Dahl, Roughie and Libba in that senior core that we are missing. They are the start and leaders of the future though.

Wood and Picken are decent players but nothing special and Higgins is average and overated.

Griffen, Cooney, Minson, Morris, Boyd, Murphy and Gia are that senior core, sadly about half are just about finished and struggle to influence a game.

Ward and Harbrow hurt, but they were yet another list management stuff up.

Still going to be more pain for another season or two.

We have the worst forward line (including forward structure) that I have probably ever seen.

Development over the last 3 years isn't the issue, plenty of youngsters are being played and you can see the improvement with them. It just isn't coming quick enough.

As we all know we hung on to the likes of Mulligan and Hooper and a few others for too long while topping up with good senior players but with a very limited shelf life.
It's created a gulf on the playing list that we haven't conquered yet. Looking at the Footscray side yesterday we still have some issues and gaps.

It's just a case of going to the draft table and positioning ourselves for good draft picks and players.

You keep bringing up Mulligan and Hooper and fair enough they turned out pretty bad. I can add possible future effect of Goodes, Fuller, Darley also speculative.

I wonder what we can do with Cooney. He has moments of brilliance and then he goes missing and he can butcher the ball on the odd occasion.
I wonder how the knee is travelling and is he not as cured as we all thought. Maybe we drop Gia to help with Footscray and make Cooney our super sub. This may be of more benefit for the player and the team.

I bring up the players that could easily be forgotten but here is some other names : Hahn, rookied because we couldn't make the hard call. Eagleton, 2 years too long and once again couldn't make the hard call. Akermanis, one year too long. Harbrow pick used on Sherman. There were plenty of others as well.

You talk about speculative picks but the topper for me is that we signed the highly speculative talent in Mulligan to a long term deal because we we thought the new GC club would take him only to sit on our hands for an extended period and quibble over a few dollars with the known commodity in Ward when there was actually a real threat with GWS.

I'm certain we will cut our losses with the guys you mentioned after two season which won't create the gulf in the list we have experienced. Just have a look how they quickly corrected things with Lower.

We just need to keep drafting and developing players
