    Re: Membership numbers

Yes, I thought Smorgan said on Saturday at the practice match that we were just marginally down on numbers as at the same time last year! I swim each morning and one of the guys in the spa is a Bulldog supporter and told me this morning that he wasn't buying a membership this year as he was unhappy at what the club did with Aker! I'm doing my best to convince him that this is no reason to not re-sign this year - I'll keep at it!

Hang him upside down from the high board and get him to agree to by a membership.
Then drop him and tell him we are better off without tossers who can't see how well the club has progressed in the last few years.

It's probably the only thing they remember reading about from the comfort of their couch last season.

FWIW i've signed up to new members this season. One's a bitch and one's a puppy.

Thanks for all the advice guys - I really appreciate it! Not sure about using force (he is in his early 70's), but I do like the argument that I support the club, and not one particular player! I will be in his ear every morning and perhaps I will pick up a Dog Catcher pack as well to assist!

That makes it more sad that he is in his 70's due to the fact he is probably a long time fan.

Still a few hundred down on last year. Might struggle to get within a 1,000 on last year

But we have had 2 events cancelled this year remember, thus 2 events people might have planned to buy membership.

Found a novel way to increase our membership this year. Today I made a bet with a mate at work on the outcome of our first game against Essendon. When we win he has to buy a Bulldog membership, IF by chance they beat us I have to buy one of theirs, which I will then onsale at a discounted price to another mate.

Brilliant! I think I am going to have to get on that.

                              The 30,000 Challenge

Club wants everyone to rally new and past members with a target of 30,000 by round 1, 38000 for the year.

Even offering the "25,000th Member" being presented with a guernsey by a club champion

This strategy always rubs me the wrong way.
Because they wait or are undecided they are rewarded.
It should go into the draw for Bulldogs for Life or for early signed up members.
Better still why not give every ten year continious member a bloody jumper ?
