Shame, 2nd son of a gun not taken in last 12 months. No place for sentimentality at the club anymore.

I think our list imbalance of too many smaller players was probably a strong consideration in us not nominating him.
I would also think they we don't believe he is worthy of a pick as high as 51.

That also means that unfortunately, he does not warrant a spot on our current list. There is also the consideration that if he is not picked up, we could play him at Footscray and still be able to nominate him if his development warrants it.

When you compare his under 18 form to players like Caleb Daniel, he is no where near that.

We also have Michael Romero as another small to consider in 2016.

I guess if we had have stuck with picks 11, 30, 48 and 64 (or whatever that was) he might have figured into our calculations.
I'd like to think we would look to add him as a rookie but that might not be guaranteed.

It's a good point your raise and I'd also mention that we added Zaine Cordy after the Caleb Daniel selection.

Last year was reasonably unremarkable football. Then a decent shoulder surgery. So in reality the competition has to make a call on about 10 games plus the combine results. Is that enough to get a two year spot on another AFL list? Find out in exactly 4 weeks.

His old man was one of my all time Bulldog favourites. Bet both Darcy and Steve are devastated he won't be wearing the Red, White & Blue.

I must say I was a little surprised when some started talking about him as a chance to impact our mid to late draft pick considerations.

Good luck to him, hope he gets picked up and has a good career.

Although the points were never relevant for this deal anyway.

Feel a bit for Darcy, growing up with his Old man and Uncle playing for the club and he may never wear our jumper,.
Might have been a different story if he was in last season draft.
Hopefully we manage to rookie him.

Should have rookied him instead of Adcock was that even a possibility?

He was picked by GC before that selection. Why didn't you want Adcock? Surely our team will have better depth by selecting him

                        Re: Darcy McPherson

The whole father/son thing is quite arbitrary anyway. Daniel Hanneberry, Alex Rance and Sam Reid all had fathers who had considerable Footscray careers. We have Dunkley, mainly because his father despises his old club (their willingness to claim JD was tentative given the difficulties with Andrew).

Ben Reid, Billy Smedts, Jayden Foster & now Darcy Mac also on the list.

Good call BT. Forgot about Billy Smedts, gee Alby Smedts is a name for hardcore old school Dogs fans.

I can imagine it would of been a very hard call for SD and JM to make but it's not the first time they have done it and to be honest it's for the benefit of the club. I'm not saying Darcy and Jayden for example shouldn't be dogs but that our recruiting team have got the fortitude to make decisions with their heads and not their hearts like many of us probably would of done if we were in their position.

That gives me confidence that we are on the right track and the proof is in the pudding, we have an awesome list at the moment, with probably the most depth and quality we have ever had.

Agree Cyberdoggie. The most depth I personally have seen at the Club in any one year since the 1960's. So many players that could force their way into the team for the first match let alone during the year which is great news for our Club.
