Re: How do we rate our 2015 draft?

From a draft perspective it's close to perfect effort by the team and the big job of development awaits.

Dunkley will add to our big midfielders which is something that we have focused on in recent years in a very selective way.

Getting a young, genuine KP defender in Collins was badly needed. I hope we can work on improving his athleticism but he is a terrific selection

When a coach gives you a nickname like 'the specimen' then Marcus Adams was someone very high on our radar. At 22 and physically ready to go he will be given plenty of opportunities.

Bailey Williams looks to be a smooth mover and has neat kicking skills. Might take a year but he could be a steal.

Bradley Lynch has the right sort of athletic attributes you want and while he will take time his ability to kick accurately off both feet at pace should take him a long way. Outstanding addition.

Luke Goetz is being labelled as a ruckman but I think there could be a bit more to him. His athletic attributes might just allow him to play as a key forward or defender. Give him a couple of years and he could be a handful for opposition teams.

Jed Adcock is certainly a player who could get a number of senior games with us.

So there you have it, a great blend of experience types in Adcock and a guy who's on the rise at 22 in Adams.
Two quick and skilled midfield type youngsters in Williams and Lynch.
A KP defender in Collins who could be a brute of a player in a season or two and an emerging and versatile KP talent in the 202cm Goetz plus a big midfielder in Dunkley.

I'd rate this a near A grade effort. Just love the way we raided the rookie draft today. Icing on the cake.

Remember this time 12 months ago? Players walking out, new coach we all hoped would do okay, draft picks seemingly way off what was needed. Jeez we looked so far away from where we are now. Almost defies belief how solid our position looks just 1 year later. Lot of hard work still to go though, but feels so good to be this excited about the future.

I just can't see any weak areas on the field now. If we get back Clay Smith and Libba to their former terrier selves then our engine room has a lot of options outside the centre circle. We are going to maul a few teams this coming season.

Ruck is still the big challenge.....and I think we are light on for pace if Dahl and JJ don't have injury free seasons. We are of course assuming Collins and Adams have an impact in their first year.

Then there's Tom Boyd. Because if he starts delivering on his promise.

              What a forward line.

Stringer Crammers and Dixon. 3 nightmare matchups.

Redpath as the bash and crash CHF. Dahlhaus as the crumbing opportunist and Boyd as the goal square behemoth.

That is scary. Not to mention the Bont rotating through.

I think there will be times this year where Adams will play CHF as well.

Depending on the opposition Collins/Roberts/Hamling/Morris as tallish backs and TBoyd/Stringer/Crameri/Adams as powerful forward options (and maybe Roughead as a tall 2nd ruck/utility) could be a real handful. With Campbell/Minson vying for 1st Ruck and Redpath still thereabouts, all of a sudden the options and flexibility look pretty healthy.

Re: How do we rate our 2015 draft?

Ill fart in the elevator and ask - is there any footage of dunkley doing what he does best? all his highlights are of him taking relatively pedestrian marks, then going back and taking his kick in a very deliberate style. Has anyone seen him play? Where are the clearances and hard balls? They must be there but they arent in his highlights, so... yeah. Seems a bit of stilted mover as well.

Not saying he isnt worthy of our first pick, just that I havent seen any evidence of it in the footage available. Id like to.

Since we cant judge in terms of quality of picks for several years at least, Ill judge in terms of list management:

Very happy with Collins and Adams, they are great additions to the list, and I like what little there is to see of Lynch and Goetz. For mine, had Brisbane been made to pay properly for Keays, meaning they wouldnt have pipped us for Skinner, Id go A+.

As it is, Ill go A-

How funny is it that the shortest young player we drafted this year was 187cm. Do you think Dal was fearing reprisals after last years midget draft?

Can't believe the size of Adam's arms. Going to be fun watching him terrorise opposition forwards.

Love it TD. If any of our guys can show Rollins' level grunt and zeal, we ain't gonna be disappointed.

Yeah. I had the name of an ex on one leg that I ended up getting the four bar symbol over.
