Ruck/forward prospect Darcy Cameron was another player at the WA Combine attracting significant AFL interest with teams looking to the various state leagues for mature tall players.

The 21-year-old, who stands 204cm and weighs 101 kg, booted 36 goals and averaged 15 hit-outs per game for Claremont this season.

Attending his fourth Combine, Cameron recorded the second-highest result in the beep test and a personal best level 13.1, and leaped 74cm off his left leg in the vertical jump test.

Sheehan said Cameron deserved a chance to prove himself at AFL level.

"His perseverance has been super and he's probably had his most consistent year," Sheehan said.

"He's ready for an opportunity to go into a full time program."

Without knowing a great deal about him, his type of player - mature, decent enough aerobic endurance - is exactly the sort of ruckman we should look at rookie listing. Just a big body that can make his way around the park and clunk some marks.

Mitch Hannan high flying forward around 187cm. Takes some great speccies. I think he's a one trick pony however

Jordan Russell half back and captain. 188cm & 30yo. Arguably the best player in the VFL, i would pick him as a rookie under the same reasoning we have chosen Adcock and Goodes in the past and he is better than both.
I like Nash. He's a big moment player. He gets in the middle of everything and wants the ball when the game is on the line. And he's pretty tough.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

          Agree Comrade.
          I'm just worried because he's from W.A.

Doc mentioned Mason Shaw who is probably more of a forward but at 197cm he could be a decent relief ruckman. He was on Ports list but fell well short however, has had a good season this year,

Another KP player worth considering after a strong season is Tyler Keitel, a 20yo, 194cm, key defender who got named in the WAFL team of the year. I think he mainly played as the full back.
All 3 should be on AFL lists.

Keitel played both high and deep and did a pretty good job...wins a heap of the footy as well.

Cameron had a remarkable season - to even be playing after having his face completely (and illegally) smashed in by Manzone was a huge effort.

Shaw is a class above...unfortunately body issues plagued him at Port but I think he played pretty much every week at SF.
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

Another potential ruck prospect from the state league is Tom Goodwin who is the son of former Tiger Andy.
200cm and a very strong body. Like his father he is highly regarded for his competitive nature. In one of his games fro Coburg he was pitted against Tom Boyd when Boyd returned from that suspension and from reports Boyd struggled against him.

I'm trying to remember the game against Coburg. What were the scores Gary?

Boyd kicked 4 that day. He played on TC in a bog pit. Like his aggression and competitiveness. Came across as a bit of a maniac really, which I like in a ruckmen. May be worth a look, would need a lot of conditioning work.

Found the article. It makes reference that he didn't go well in the ruck. As Slim said he kicked 4 as a forward

Yeah I was at that game and Boyd was BOG playing 85% up forward.
