He said he "wasn't fazed" if he didn't get picked up - I know it's just a throwaway line but it's not what clubs would want to hear

Bingo. When I read those comments I thought to myself that's almost career suicide in an elite sport environment that demands you be fazed (about your career & excellence) & driven to get listed & play well. If he's lucky Willy or Port may offer him some ok money.

Very exciting afternoon for the in-laws yesterday with my wife's cousin, Brett Eddy, finally getting an AFL list spot, being rookie listed by Port Power.

There's been about 3 or 4 rookie drafts now that Brett has been hopeful, and even though he was told this time by Port that they'd be picking him - his parents wouldn't believe it until his name was read out.

Not sure of your point here?

I'm simply saying that potentially their last AFL games ended in a finals defeat at the hands of us. Makes a nice change to our players careers ending in a finals loss.

Agree with this - during my favourite passage of play of all time (the minute of the last quarter that starts with Biggs' smother) by the time the ball gets to our forward pocket there's a flock of swans around the play - one of them being Richards - he did nothing to try and get involved in winning the ball back or stopping us. Seemed to lack the appetite for the contest...as they say.

It's a buzz isn't it? An old friends daughter was drafted for the womens AFL and we have barely stopped talking about it.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.
