Won’t be a surprise if Footscray VFL’s Billy Gowers gets a second AFL listing, maybe even with the Doggies. The ex-Blue showed a bit of X factor in the VFL this year. He’s a nice player.

Yeah reading through the VFL reports from this season Gowers name came up a lot. Was very good.

I wonder when they will release the VFL fixture and how many double headers will get. I hope to get to a few VFL games again next year. Been cool in recent times experiencing the old school Whitten Oval game days.

I thought Gowers was a class above at VFL level. Had a bit of x factor about him as well.

I think he would be a steal with our last pick, not sure he will last that long though.

The fact Gowers can't kick at all doesn't bother anyone? If we have some ideas on how we will get around it then I'm all ears but Gowers is as bad a kick as I've seen.

I like to focus on a player's talents and Gowers is as good a mark as I've seen but his kicking is truly awful. I don't know if I can spend a whole year watching him spray the ball everywhere.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

He's too limited as a player to me. Which is why I assume Carlton delisted him. He looks every bit a VFL footballer to me. I'd prefer to have Dalrymple pick one of his famous later picks and develop them right from the get go.

Yeah too much of a one trick pony. He will mark most balls that come near him in the forward 50 but that's it. He might distract someone like Lever from intercepting every kick that comes into the forward 50 maybe?

Mitchell Podhajski has been linked to Footscray. He is a 191cm defender. Another tallish defender

He is a very good signing. Unlucky not to find a spot on an AFL list. Good article on him above.

I wish there was some sort of bidding system for VFL listed players like father-son and academy players.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

It wouldnt' be too hard to do as well. I like anything that adds a bit of sentiment. Each team gets to nominate say two guys from state league. Would also help the state league sides, players knowing going there instead of local comp could help their chance to get into or back to the AFL.
