I like Sellwood, has a lot of great traits but geez his disposal is heart in mouth stuff, I think that’s the reason he hasn’t had a chance yet. The reports made it sound like he was a great user in the WAFL but I’m not seeing it. His kicking is very very loopy, think that would be found out big time at AFL level. Needs to sort it out IMO

But definitely got potential

Across both levels it’s clear our backline is directed to mark at all costs, but if we’re going to refuse to spoil and kill contents we HAVE to learn to keep numbers in the right spots at ground level. The biggest club wide issue is us dropping a mark in defence where everyone else is out of position and it’s swarmed on by opposition for an easy goal

If we don’t want to spoil and kill contests then it’s a necessity to be in position when it hits the ground. We’re downright terrible at it. It’s pretty simple stuff, can’t we designate a sweeper whose job is to get in behind and mop up?

Also could Scott potentially play back pocket? Has the traits I like in the small defender role, just a well rounded player, decent speed, overhead and solid by foot. Good in & under, decent composure. Could he make the late career transition to a solid back pocket type? Like a (very) budget Matty Boyd type, only real opening for him I can see in the senior side

Buku adds another. Although Croft is not adding much with possessions, when he gets a chance, he adds a hard edge to contests

Jones or Sellwood need to come in, considering the match ups required for the crows I think we need Jones. Looks fit and has been good today.

Selwood will play at some stage this year, if it wasn’t the crows I’d possibly go him over Jones this week. As I said before I’m worried about how his disposal may go at the next level but everything else in his game is really good, love his hardness, desperation and aerial game.

Either would be a big upgrade on Coffield I think, who’s just not athletic enough to play the role he’s in, in our type of defence

Zac Walker is a terrible kick unfortunately, harsh on the kid but he’s going to have to be very very good to make up for that. Do we just not value ball use in the back half or what? Sheesh it’s so important in the modern game turnovers from defence are killing us but we just really don’t seem to value it that highly
