I'm not sure, perhaps it's a gamble we need to make but would Bevo head in another direction and try and see if Boyd, Schache and Trengove could at least run him around a bit? Maybe it's some left field thinking that's required.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

If they are nice enough to talk to a stranger the last thing I'm going to do is criticise them.
I'm sure that stuff is bought up in meetings, personally I rather talk to them about outside of the game , they get enough of footy talk I imagine.
Great thing about VFL games is they are so easy to get to know, standing around with all us lemmings you just go up and have a chat
Billy still lives with his dad/family, Andy who is now in the finance game and he relaxes with golf as a past time.
The main thing I got out of reading between the lines is he loves the club compared to previous clubs.
Very good club and team.
So all this rubbish that journos come out with is just that.
Also to be noted is Mitch Wallis didn't play as he has tendon problems in his little finger, they didn't want to risk it at the time of picking the team but obviously came up better to play VFL ( with which he played well).
English had a moon boot on, I didn't see Bevo or libber at the game this time.
I sat talking to a bloke at a Footscray practice match a few years ago for ages. We were talking about movies and music and British sitcoms and all sorts of crap for 45 minutes and then he wanders off. My mate said to me "oh that's Biggsy the new guy from Sydney did he say how he found things at the club?"
"didn't mention footy at all mate. Knows a bit about Fawlty Towers though (might not have been FT)
"great that's going to help us to a premiership"They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.Comment

Re: Round 8 2018 Footscray Bulldogs v Collingwood
I went on Saturday. Pretty frustrating watch.
Wallis played as you'd expect him to at that level - won every 50/50 contest he was in. Played as much half forward as on ball.
Webb - plays as he always does at that level. Really well.
Dunkley - couldn't seem to get involved as much as you'd hope. Shouldn't be coming off the ground as much as he was. The 5 on the interchange thing becomes a problem when you've got plenty of AFL listed players in the side - and guys like Adams, Morris, Young, Roberts & Campbell pretty much playing 100%.
Adams - terrible. Looks a million miles off being ready for AFL level.
Morris - doesn't look ready to go back into the AFL side yet.
Lewis Young - pretty good in the air. But makes giant mistakes with the ball at the wrong time.
Jong - no impact on the game.
Biggs - solid without starring.
That Reuben William kid has some attributes. Love to see him play a bit more selfish when he can take off and run and carry. A few times he handball off when he had some momentum - I was thinking 'don't hand it off, these blokes can't kick - go yourself!'.
Much like our senior side - there is a severe lack of forward craft. Roberts kicked 2 goals late - but we kicked to him a dozen times and his forward play was awful with him getting outmarked after losing position while the ball was in the air.
We did a good job of switching the ball to the dead side of the ground when behind in the last quarter, and extinguishing any chance of moving it from end to end. Morris and Adams were amongst the culprits.Comment

Re: Round 8 2018 Footscray Bulldogs v Collingwood
Sounds like the AFL side. One could mount a case that's how the men are being coached to play if 40 players over the weekend played the same way.

Re: Round 8 2018 Footscray Bulldogs v Collingwood
4 things stood out in both games.
1. Ball movement - Really struggled to make quick enough and direct enough connections to put the opposition under pressure. Most of the time, we either go so slow or we make errors that give the opposition time to set themselves up behind the ball. And if you are going to switch the ball in D50 - it should be a big switch, not via 2 or 3 25 metre kicks.
2. Contested ball - seemed to lose it badly in both games. Certainly in the last quarter of the VFL we did - as well as across the night in the AFL. I fear how we will look v Melbourne's physicality next week.
3. Spread - Both games, we couldn't go with Collingwood on the spread. They would transition out of defence, and spread to the weak side in waves and we would be trailing them by 10-15 metres and have less numbers.
4. Keeping the ball inside our Forward 50 - just came out too easily with no pressure. For the second week in a row - the effort wasn't there in defensive running and urgency to keep control of the set up of the ground.Comment

Well, your posts could equally be in the coaching pressure thread. Either the coaching is very poor in terms of tactics, or the coaching is poor by having tactics that we don't have the players (skill and/or mental application) to execute same.Rocket Science: the epitaph for the Beveridge era - whenever it ends - reading 'Here lies a team that could beat anyone on its day, but seldom did when it mattered most'. 15/7/2023Comment

He looks a little slow at AFL level but we haven't given him a decent run to adjust to the tempo. I'd like to see him have a few weeks of uninterrupted footy at AFL level. They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.Comment

Re: Round 8 2018 Footscray Bulldogs v Collingwood
Do you think he will ever adjust to the tempo? I'm genuinely unsure because we keep having cunning plans for where to deploy him, we play him in that position for a while at Footscray, he gets promoted to AFL, he plays in a completely different position and gets dropped again.
