I really don't see a Giants player wanting to come to the Bulldogs, but I'd be all over Caldwell if we were in the hunt.

I've gone off Kelly majorly. Injuries have bought him back to the pack.

They have plenty of others worth getting into the ear of though.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Didn't see tonight's game. I was big on him a couple of years ago. It he can get back to that form consistently he'd be perfect for us.

If there is a reduced playing list of 35 the salary cap will be ???? Will there be revised contract with current players? Interesting times ahead.

Great post Doc. I’ve always loved Williams ability to break lines and hit a guys chest 40 meters off at full speed being chased. He could be a serious weapon in our midfield.

Also loved the look of caldwells junior footy highlights.

I’m keen to know “what type” of player you think we need most?

For me it’s a high pressure, creative forward flank and a wingman to sit opposite lauchie hunter. Keen on others thoughts.

That's my point. Very hard to be chasing other players till we know what the future holds.

For mine a class mid and a small forward.

So just Josh Kelly and Tom Papley. Nothing major.

I would love to get both these boys!!

Williams for the reasons you have pointed out and also for his versatility in that he can play across the backline as well as through the midfield.

Caldwell I like because he is a midfielder/forward type and I think we need better ball use coming into our F50. In the preseason I suggested in one of our threads that I'd like to see Caleb Daniel playing his current quarterback role but in the forward line (ie Quarter Forward) and pinpointing targets in attack. I think Caldwell could play that kind of role but also add depth to our midfield. Our midfield is good but I am concerned that we have been beaten up severely in the midfield 4 times in our last 9 games. Something is not quite right. Libba coming back has helped but is it enough?

Overall however our biggest weakness is small/medium forwards. Natural goal kickers & goal creators who play deep forward. We have plenty of players tried in these roles but how many are actually any good or good enough to help us win a premiership? I'm not sold on what we have as most are hybrid midfielder/forwards, constantly injured, or relatively unproven. Our finishing is often lack lustre. We lack a bit of star power.

Saints rumoured to be throwing 5 years at Caldwell. I’d love him but that sort of contract is just nuts.

I'd like to see us having a crack at Caldwell. 5 years is a big carrot though
