We don't need a world beater in the ruck, just a big body who doesn't get thrown around at stoppages or marking contests. I'd look at fringe or older guys who have a decent record against Gawn and Grundy and just get one in. Bont, Macrae, Libba and Dunks can shark another ruck's taps, it's Timmy's lack of physicality that hurts us.

Options I'd explore: Rhys Stanley, Max Lynch, Lloyd Meek, Kieran Briggs, Pete Ladhams, Jon Ceglar, Kieran Briggs or even Tom Campbell.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

Agree - and more than anything we need Tim to play to his strengths by allowing him to use his energy to push up to the wings to take marks and then push deep forward to create chaos. He just can't do either well enough as a first ruck (and his ruck work is crap).

Stanley is a weird one - can play a blinder against a good ruck and then be destroyed by a fringe ruck the next week. I'd consider him all the same, wonder what he'd cost?

I actually don't mind Vardy, without knowing how his body is.

Any thoughts on Darcy Fort at Geelong. Might still have a contract for another season but seems on the outer at a club that chops and changes it’s thoughts on ruckman every second week. Has dominated games at VFL level this year and capable when pushing forward. No world beater but we don’t have a lot of bargaining chips at the moment.

Another one I don't mind, good suggestion.

Darcy did full testing with us with a possibility of being drafted while at Footscray. His Vo2 testing was substandard and so we didn’t proceed. Vo2 measures aerobic endurance through oxygen consumption. The theory then says he won’t be able to sustain an AFL career with this limitation, but at VFL would be fine. That’s how’s his career has played out. 8 AFL games but plenty of good footy at VFL level. So I’d be very surprised to see him come our way.

Two years ago I would have said no but know he looks like a very decent back-up option.
I agree that we don't have the bargaining chips to chase a higher profile option.
