Played ok, should have had two goals. He has a booming kick.

Green shoots you think? Im getting crisp vibes from collingwood. A tall running wingman is something we can handle.

He is very confident and talkative on field. I was on the outer wing and he was giving instructions to other players, where to stand etc

Honestly giving Khamis a run as a forward isn't a bad idea. Cleary & Raak as medium interceptors makes his spot on the list shaky. He can take a grab and is fairly quick, if he can establish himself as a decoy forward that can tackle then that'd be good for him.

Looks like he’d be ok both ends which Bevo loves. Hope he is given another chance and ends up being a surprise packet for us.

Khamis as a forward/ruck option would be worth a look over the coming weeks.

I have moved Buku ahead of Hannan as this option.

A better mark and a better kick, so he can be more than just the guy who blocks for others.

Also with his leap he can actually get an occasional hitout.

Given the role he'd be performing isn't Cordy his competition rather than Hannan? Hannan should mainly ruck when Cordy is unavailable.

Stoked with Buku. If he can repeat this next week then I’m all for Cordy going back and getting him in the team.

Buku is a good kick for goal too which is a giant plus.

More of an In Bruges guy?

I thought he had a good game. Relief ruck too.

Buku was terrific and almost won the match for us. I'd like to see him play well against better opposition as a forward before we consider promoting him. North had no key defenders of any note as far as I could tell. But despite that he took some terrific marks, especially the one for the 4th goal when I thought he had no chance, and kicked beautifully. Clearly, a good move by the coaching staff and something to work with.

Also I found it Interesting that we kept Schache and BVDH as the key defenders the whole game. Not even using BVDH as relief ruckman in favour of Buku. Perhaps we have something in mind?

                                VFL player summary: Round 4

Development manager Jamie Maddocks summarises the 12 AFL-listed players who featured for Footscray against North Melbourne on Good Friday.

                                Stef Martin

24 disposals, four marks, 10 clearances, 16 hit outs

Stef had a very influential game at centre bounce, and also around the ground at stoppages. He was involved in the game offensively which is great to see. He is moving pretty well and enjoying helping our young players develop.

                                Hayden Crozier

18 disposals, eight marks, five rebound 50s

Hayden played every minute of the game without a break, which is an incredible sacrifice for his teammates. We didn’t get things quite right behind the ball at times which makes any defender’s job harder, so we probably didn’t get see all of his defensive craft & impact come out in this game.

                                Josh Schache

16 disposals, five marks, four rebound 50s

Josh played four quarters as a defender. He had some very good moments intercepting from stoppage and helping us counterattack, but at times we let the opposition slip in behind us in crucial contests which allowed them to score.

                                Rhylee West

18 disposals, four tackles, six clearances, one goal

Rhylee played a mix of inside-mid and permanent forward - we thought he had a balanced game. He was strong around the ball and was able to impact the game when playing forward, which is important for him. It’s not about numbers for us - it’s about impact so we were happy with the improvements in Rhylee’s game.

                                Louis Butler

25 disposals, nine marks, seven inside 50s

Louis came back with a pretty clear focus on things he needed to improve on from his AFL game against the Tigers. His contest was strong and his ability to stand under high balls and compete was a highlight.

                                Buku Khamis

16 disposals, 10 marks, seven hit outs, four goals

Buku had a change of role this week - playing forward while also having a few stints in the ruck. There were signs early he was going well, but his third quarter was super impressive. He was strong in the air and on the ground, and his stoppage work was pretty good. He brings such joy to our team and club, so it was great to see him perform well.

                                Charlie Parker

13 disposals, five marks, five inside 50s

Charlie is still building after a fairly long lay-off. He played forward and wing minutes and had more impact on the game, which is great for him. He was able to take a few marks as a forward. We look forward to seeing him impact more as a winger around the ground as we continue to get game-time into him.

                                Robbie McComb

28 disposals, six marks, six clearances, seven inside 50s, one goal

Robbie was coming back after a rib injury, so took a while to get going, but after quarter-time impacted the game as he normally would. He was strong around the contest and helped us get good ground position. He hunts the ball so naturally, and provides us AFL calibre running ability which helped when we were down on midfield depth this week.

                                Arthur Jones

                                Seven disposals, two marks

Arthur was buzzing around the ground again. He runs so hard and helps us the move the ball with his patterns. We are still trying to find out where he is best suited, and how we can help him have more influence on the game. The mixture of him playing as a winger and at half-forward will be great for his development.

                                Luke Cleary

18 disposals, six marks, four rebound 50s

Luke was pretty solid behind the ball again this week. His ability to win the ball at contest and find his teammates on the outside is a feature of his game. We are looking for a bit more physicality from him as a defender, so we can own more advantage in the contests he finds himself in, but we are happy with how he is going.

                                Roarke Smith

Nine disposals, five marks, one goal

Roarke played most of the game as a winger. He is such a selfless teammate and often forgoes opportunities for himself so the team will prosper – in saying that, at times we’d love to see him take the game on a bit more and hit the scoreboard if he finds himself in that situation. His run and carry at speed was a highlight.

                                Cody Raak

                                Five disposals, one mark

Cody had a pretty tough day as a mid-sized forward – it’s one of the hardest positions. What’s great though is the learning he will get out of the game, which will be invaluable to him as a both a forward and a defender. The education he is getting at both ends of the ground is so important for his future.
