From what I have seen on the TV stream, I have been concerned about his ground coverage and general lack of pace.

This game in the ruck has me thinking he might just be better than his Dad.

I think Darcy will be a star and he will be worth what we had to pay as number 2 draft pick. Apart from a bit of aggression (which cost team a bit in this game but shows he will not take a step back), his disposal by hand and foot is clever (except for one atrocious kick for goal in this game). Let alone his height and marking ability. Yep, we’ve got a good one for sure. Also think it will potentially drive Marra to continue to improve (Marra already showing some good signs). A bit of healthy competitiveness b/w two 1 & 2nd draft picks and future stars is a positive. Hope they become mates, would be a nice parallel, as their careers will be intertwined whilst they are with us.

I see him as a Max King type player. Max is overly quick from what I've seen but he uses his height and football smarts to his advantage. If Sam can come on like King we have ourselves a beauty.

As for being better than his dad, I think your gun may have gone off in its holster! Duke was arguably the best player in the comp at one stage. Sam is looking good in his few reserves games no doubt but let's not get too excited just yet

I am guilty of forgetting how good Luke was.

Yes he was exceptional to the extent they brought in a rule to slow him down.

Interesting that the repeal of that rule might kust lead to Sam just taking a lot of clean possession when rucking.

Like when he was Darcy's age he wasn't playing at all, and I can remember him playing VFL 2s in season three/four and looking pretty bad.

Darcy looks awesome and is worth heading over to Whitten Oval to see.

Further to this, so his game yesterday was a step up from last week when you questioned his contribution as his 16 marks were misleading?
