That is correct on the assumption that JOD has to be upgraded from a cat B rookie.

I think we're more likely to sign Wade Derksen. 24 years old, 197cm. Good athletic profile, rugby background.
Frost would be better for experience but he's in the Liam Jones category of age and being one injury away from retirement.
Derksen is untried but a good price. We were doing pick swaps with GWS and he must've been on the radar for plans B and C. Not much to lose on a one year deal with options. Melbourne wanted him but Steven King's new plans squelched what looked like a done deal.
I hope Buss comes on but there's no guarantee, and even if he does we need backup. His growth is unlikely to be exponential. Buku is better as a forward. Derksen has a lot more pace than Coffield.
We know we can't end up in the position where after a few injuries Ryan Gardner has to come back in, playing against a top 6 team. Gardner is more than reliable in the VFL but not up to it in the firsts.
Frost is a risk for age, Coff has barely had an injury free 6 months, for years.
Unless there's someone on a VFL list ready to play we're thin for choice.

I don't mind the suggestion but I'm not sure it's in our DNA to take on a player who been in the system for a few years but has no senior football experience and never came through the pathway
You could imagine when we we trading the pick with GWS, Derksen could have been rolled into the deal.

If we are considering Frost , why didnt we just keep Jones for another year , same profile .
Coffield is the one im surprised is still there , unfortunately injury has robbed him of being a good solid footballer , and with Buku not getting his move , i think Buku and now Sellwood are ahead of Coff .
Cant see Coffield getting many games next year with Cleary , Sellwood , Buku and arguably Gardner all ahead of him .
