I don't mind the suggestion but I'm not sure it's in our DNA to take on a player who been in the system for a few years but has no senior football experience and never came through the pathway
You could imagine when we we trading the pick with GWS, Derksen could have been rolled into the deal.

Frost has to be more of a chance.

Agreed, Frost is more likely and fits the gap profile but if at this stage we're not hearing anything more substantial about our links and progress with him, there might be other irons in the fire.
Historically we haven't gone down the path of signing someone of Derksen's ilk but we've also had personnel changes to our recruiting staff. Milesi out, Luke Williams and Regan in. They might be, and I'm only speculating because new people sometimes break a pattern or make a change, decide to consider a different approach. We've nabbed a few players from Hawthorn, Frost might be one more, but until its a lock I'm content to fossick. And I take your point about the pick swaps and a possible GWS deal but it seems like many moves have been left up in the air this year, and messaging from the club has been oblique.

North just delisted Geordie Payne, a small forward who kicked a couple of bags in the VFL this year, is quick and hits the ball pretty hard. I also don’t think getting to play small forward for North is the best place to show your talents.

Question is who would be better for at least the short term, Coffield or Frost?

Frost for mine as he has a defined role at AFL level. Coffield's been on the list two years and I'm still not sure what he's actually supposed to be.

If we are considering Frost , why didnt we just keep Jones for another year , same profile .
Coffield is the one im surprised is still there , unfortunately injury has robbed him of being a good solid footballer , and with Buku not getting his move , i think Buku and now Sellwood are ahead of Coff .
Cant see Coffield getting many games next year with Cleary , Sellwood , Buku and arguably Gardner all ahead of him .

While I agree 100% we might have lost faith with his ability to judge the ball in the air.
Frost is a bandaid to a bigger challenge.

I tend to agree even though they are slightly different defenders, i think a Frost type is needed more than Coffield, unless we got the value of a pick 7 version he was supposed to be (injuries cut him back), we are screaming out for a tall defensive tagger as we have plenty of intercepting talls.
