I have no idea who this youngster is but we should keep a close eye on him

Bit of a nobody really. Very late in the rookie draft for mine.

Has anyone got some names we should be looking at in the coming weeks?
I would imagine a small forward, a small defender and a midfielder with pace would be on our shopping list.
There is also Will Darcy to consider.

Must say, I’d assumed Darcy was a player for next year! Shows how little I follow junior footy these days…

If we assume we have 2 or 3 live picks, I wonder what attributes or roles we target?

We still have a need for developing key defenders, small forwards and small defenders (of both the running and lock down variety).

While we’ve made progress on the wings, it’s perhaps still an area of need.

If Cody is still challenged or a risk, a medium sized player who can mark would also be on my wish list.

If Sanders is a flight risk and Garcia an unproven commodity (or at least, an unlikely B+ grader) I also wonder if we need a coal face extractor?

Plenty of needs given the shape of our list.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

We won't be significant players in this years draft. Most likely we will only select 2 players and that might be pushed to 3 depending on the draft hand we can assemble.

Some of the players I've seen and tracked are:

Sam Grlj - A 182cm midfielder/defender. Very quick and evasive with good kicking skills.
            Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves - A 186cm forward/winger. Skillful and a good goal kicker
Hunter Holmes - A 187cm midfielder. Very quick and skillful. Brother of Max
Tom Burton - A 178cm defender/midfielder. All round skills with his rebounding and kicking.

The way our list is progressing I think we are looking at young players to take over when our older players retire , I am not sure we have a need for any particular spot .
O’Donnell seems to get better every week , Buss showed on Sunday he is getting more confidence in playing AFL .
With another pre season under their belts they will come good.
Our older players are now playing VFL eg Duryea and Jones .
I find this will be a very interesting trade/ pick period for us .

Will we look at Levi West and Will Darcy?

Levi West is 17 and would be eligible next season
Will Darcy has been invited to the Draft Combine so it's almost certain he's on our radar.

Levi played for the Cannons yesterday, 1k & 11h... he's another Sanders!

What about Lukas Eagleton? Haven't heard much about him

I’ve watched a bit of Hibbins-Hargreaves (partially because the name reminded me of Ryan, despite the spelling)

Have to say, I am not seeing why he’s been described as skillful (seen this from multiple draft-watch sources). There is plenty in his game to suggest he could possibly be a decent forward prospect, but his field kicking feels quite poor honestly. Just never weights his kicks properly, often falling short of his target, or not having the right penetration). There was one game in particular, where he kicked 3 or 4 goals (about a month or so ago I think?). Despite that scoreboard impact, I don’t think I saw him hit a single target by foot that whole game. Besides the goals of course..

His forward craft looks a real strength. Just don’t see anything to suggest he’d suit a wing at AFL level personally

I like Burton as a defender, not quite sure he makes it as a midfielder at AFL level. Plus he's a Jets boy so that's a bit of romance there.

I think I read that Burton has tried to model his game on JJ.

Often seems to go with fast, doesn't it.
